Re-released at the same time as the underrated 1990 sequel, The Two Jakes, there’s a disappointing lack of extras on the single disc. Still, I’d take any chance to see more of Chinatown, a genre thriller set in the ’30s, yet so evocative of the mid-’70s, with its story of municipal corruption. Evocative of our time, too.
