Cheers to Eastern Front’s SuperNova Festival (May 7-I7), moving this year from Alderney over to Neptune Studio Theatre. Highlights include Berni Stapleton’s Run for the Money, a 1960s Newfoundland rum-running adventure that ends with inexplicable happenings. The hottest prime minister in Canadian history is immortalized in Trudeau Stories, Brooke Johnson’s one-person play, based on their real-life friendship. Mary-Colin Chisholm wrote and performs He’d Be Your Father’s Mother’s Cousin, “a confection of life in rural Nova Scotia.” Jake’s Gift is a comedic drama about a cranky WWII vet who returns to Juno Beach for the 60th anniversary of D-Day. Out of Frame, commissioned by EFT, documents the real-life affects of a photo taken of American soldier, Joseph Dwyer, holding an injured Iraqi boy. And coming to Halifax, a Star Wars Trilogy is. Hmmmm. Charles Ross zips through all three original Star Wars movies in an hour, performing all parts and fighting all battles.
