
On Thursday, June 30, the 7pm screening ($6) is A Nos Amours (1983), a French drama about a troubled 15-year-old girl. Next week, Wednesday July 6 and Thursday July 7 (both 8pm, $10/$12), as a fundraiser for the weekly cinema they’re screening the silent classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari (Wednesday) and Dziga Vertov’s 1929 experimental documentary Man with a Movie Camera (Thursday). Jazz accompainment both nights will be provided by the same group who played along with Metropolis at the recent Halifax Independent Film Festival: Lukas Pearse (bass), Tim Crofts (keyboards), D’Arcy Gray (percussion) and special guests Janice Jackson (vocalist) on Wednesday and Geordie Haley (guitar) on Thursday. You can also expect a 3D presentation by experimental filmmaker Andrew Hicks. Tickets are available in advance from Obsolete Records (2454 Agricola Street).
