There’s a lot more than jigs and reels going on on Cape Breton Island, and Yvette Rogers wants you to enlighten you. That’s why she put together The Island East of Here. “It’s celebratory more than anything, and sort of widening the perspective of what it means to be a Cape Bretoner. People don’t know there’s a great indie scene here as well.” The Sydney native has rounded up a slew of talented Capers to give your eyes and ears a sample of what the Island has to offer. The night will feature two songwriter circles with tunes with Keith Mullins, Alicia Penney, Carolyn Lionais, Billie Yvette, Zach MacLean, Steve Fifield, Scott Boudreau and Breagh MacKinnon. The music will be bookended by an artisans’ fair, featuring works from Finders Keepers, HunkDunkyDory Beadatory, Tessa Kendrick, Basma Kavanagh and more.
