Our first full day of films! If you see us roaming around, say hi.
Here’s where we’ll be:
Shorts |||: Women on Top (Park Lane 8, 2pm): Hey ladies! Short docs about a pop-art nun, an electronic musician and a 70-year-old woman who makes Demi Moore’s thing with Ashton into a big yawnfest.
Jiggers (Park Lane 8, 4pm): Quirky comedy from PEI.
Paris, Texas (Dal Art Gallery, 5pm): Watch this classic again as part of the Wim Wenders retrospective. Come back Monday for Wings of Desire.
Cooking with Stella (Oxford, 7pm): Any chance to spend time with Don McKellar, who plays the chef-husband to a diplomat (Lisa Ray) living in India. Hoping to get stuffed on food shots.
Amreeka (Park Lane 4, 7:10pm): Expect to hear much more about this film, which won a Critic’s Pick at Cannes, about a single Palestinian mom and her son, who move to America, pre-Iraq war.
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Oxford, 9:30pm): Heath Ledger’s last film. Could be little heartbreaking, but Terry Gilliam will make you forget all about that. Bonus: Tom Waits as the devil.
Best Worst Movie (Oxford, midnight): The holy grail of craptacular movies, Troll 2, finally gets a tribute
