An entire album with replay value was beginning to feel like a strange memory from childhood, until I put on Mount Benson. Opening track “Wakesiah” packs a punch of nostalgia that could compete with any of your old Nintendo cartridges. The whole album comes and goes within 25 minutes, as if Jay Reatard possessed the Ghosts before reaching punk rock heaven. “Charms of Cars” hits like a hazy summer jam fit for an old Pavement album, and “Things You Go Through” is never, ever going to leave my head. Buy the album and see them live (they’re planning on coming through in August), and you’ll be done summer before it even begins.
