Andrew Hunter and the Gatherers’ latest EP gives these fellas the
right to feel they’re on “On a Cloud,” as the fifth track enforces. The
eight tracks on the album, recorded in Halifax at Codapop Recording
Studios, definitely hint at Matt Mays’ strong guitar riffs, reflective
lyrics of Neil Young and the heavy vocals of Eddie Vedder. It’s clear
that Hunter has found a blend of influences from his surroundings and
travels, including the beat of surfing waves in both Maui and Nova
Scotia, and growing up in small-town New Brunswick. Hitting the radio
next for this trio is “The Feel Good Song,” starting March 23.
