Alive & Living

Evolved from his 1999 solo record, Time Between Failures, former Chore frontman Chris Bell has devised a new melodic, folky, master plan. Those in search of another Chore record need not apply — PLO (as in Please Leave On) is drastically different than anything his distorted former ensemble ever released. Accompanied by violinist Erin Aurich (ex-A Northern Chorus), Adam Costantini (ex-By Divine Right), drummer Jackson Hudecki (younger brother of BDR’s Dylan) and keyboardist Kate Davies, Bell’s Alive & Living has more of a warm, rustic feel than one might have expected. PLO is simply a treat, highlighted by the lush “White And Gold,” the epic “At All” and the dark, eccentric and upbeat “Accident Circus.”
