There’s been a lot of buzz about the future of alFresco Film Fresco, the outdoor film series, when it lost its alfresco location at the waterfront Electropolis building. No fears—-the series has found a new indoor/outdoor home at Pier 20 (try a Google map search for “alfresco filmfesto” for the location), which means no more rescheduling, an end to weather-guessing and praying every Friday night. Along with the new digs, there’s a new 30-foot, portable, inflatable screen for your viewing pleasure. And there are pleasures indeed; this year’s program is stuffed with classic crowd-pleasers.
On July 24 you can relive Pierce Brosnan’s sweet crooning in Mamma Mia!. If you want to sing out, sing out, do it on July 31 for my all-time favourite film, Harold and Maude. O Captain! My Captain! Dead Poets Society reconvenes on August 7. Princesses, criminals and basket cases are all invited to The Breakfast Club on August 14, and you can fly with the original Disney animation, Peter Pan, on August 21. Zed may be dead, but Pulp Fiction is alive and well on August 29.
As usual, bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating. Gates open at 8pm, with show time at 9pm or dusk. Admission is a $5 donation.

Mamma Mia playing during Pride Week? They know how to target an audience! 🙂
Harold and Maude – be still my heart. Thanks AlFresco for bringing it to the big screen xo
No!!! How do we watch Al Fresco Film Festo from our boats!!
Oh, Mamma Mia, you are so terrible, but I love you. (It’s this generation’s Dirty Dancing!)
And THE BREAKFAST CLUB. How very.
Sad there are no double features this year though. (Linklater in 2010!)
