If you took Ottawa band The Acorn and Glory Hope
Mountain and planted them right here in Halifax soil, you’d have a tall tree to blend in with some of this city’s best artists. A more countrified or folksy Mike O’Neill, Joel Plaskett or Brent Randall, with some of Matt Mays’ dramatic acoustic avenues thrown in—whatever you want to call it, if you live in this city and pay pretty close attention to hometown tunes, you’re not going to hear a whole lot new here. If you really, really want more of what you love (tracks three to five, especially), then The Acorn should grow well alongside the above.
