I just went through the your coffee chain’s drive through. When I ordered, I said that I had a refillable cup. (I’d bought one of your brand’s reusable cups to lessen the amount of garbage I create). Your advertising encourages its customers to do this, and even offers a 10-cent-per-cup discount to those who bring their own.
When I got to the pick up window, I saw the server dump my coffee from a regular paper cup into my travel cup and then throw out the paper cup. When I asked her why she was doing that, she told me that this was what she had been trained to do.
So much for my pathetic attempt to do the right thing. Coffee shop, you need to check your integrity.

Good Ol’ Timmy the Tool!
If you really care that much why not brew your coffee at home instead of sitting in an idling vehicle at a drive-thru?
You’ll find there’s lots of BS like this out there.
The coffee pods are not an option because they create plastic waste but I notice that you can get a jar of instant coffee from Just Us. It would probably be pretty good and it wouldn’t take any more time to boil some water at home than to go through a drive through. https://justuscoffee.com/store/product/ins…
That is the standard procedure for all Tim’s drive thrus. The works are timed. They have a total of 34 seconds to take, make, collect payment and give you your order. Stores that fail to meet this standard are penalized. That’s why they make it in a paper cup. If you want to avoid the waste park your damn car. Get your lazy ass out of it and go inside. Plus due to the popularity ofthe drive thru the wait inside is usually shorter.
Employees are trained that way because they have tight target times 26 seconds from when you get to the window to when you leave. Hence why they are trained to prepare your drink in the cups on hand. It also keeps everything up to standards. Machines are calibrated to dispense specific amounts in each size so that a double double tastes the same no matter which size you get. However if you were to go inside and order at the counter they would prepare your drink in your cup after rinsing it with hot water although it would be stirred with a stir stick instead to meet health codes.
