I feel that there are much better places to spend our tax dollars than paintnig busses because a company wanted to change a name of their busses that barely work!!!
We have DISGUSTING roads, nauseating traffic jams for seemingly no reason at all other than shitty drivers and stupid road placement. I would blame it on accidents as well however, 80% of the slow traffic from an accident is from the nosey mother fuckers driving by, who have to ostrich neck at the accident and drive 20 kph to catch every single detail!
We should spend the money on 2 extra lanes on highways, WORKING busses and better schedules that are actually followed. NOT a stupid paint job. —Ugly restaurants have the best food

Especially great decision making considering Metro Transit already re branded and painted these buses less than ten years ago.
Instead of this assfuckery of a decision, why not put working GPS in all buses… or lower fares… or implement new routes with new buses and more drivers. Ugh. What a waste of money.
Completely agree with finally launching GPS service for all transit buses and allowing riders to access this information … it’s just so 21st century you know. I also await the opening of the Lacewood bus terminal and hoping that Washmill Lake Drive will be served. Clayton Park / “Fairview Royale” is horrendously under served considering the population density in the area. Paint jobs don’t really concern me that much as public transit in any major city is one of the most visible features to visitors and tourists. Cost of doing business as they say.
There’s a lot wrong with transit, and a rebranding isn’t going to make it all wash away. I’ve still got a nasty taste in my mouth after the last transit strike.
Some of the newer aspects of the transit strategy is great, namely being able to see where exactly where a bus is, prepaid pass implementation, etc is all very forward as well. The key thing here is to implement it. These were things promised 5-10 years ago when the GoTime system was overhauled… Relatively useful monitors were pulled out and useless IVR system was put in place.
All very promising, but execution needs to happen at a rapid pace.
It wasn’t a company, it was the idiotic Council and staff.
agree’d, fever.
There is such a place as ‘Fairview Royale’ …… best laugh today! Where in the bowels of hell is this gem located?
That’s the nickname for the upper part of Main Avenue where all the new buildings are being built that connects to Washmill lake/bayers lake.
I’d like to see bus service there — what would be great is if they connected washmill to regency park drive and had some buses run the loop up Main, through Washmill, hooking onto Regency Park and down to Lacewood. That would be bomb ass.
@koda @Breakfast Sandwich … the subdivision called “Mount Royale” is off Washmill and I sarcastically refer to it as Fairview Royale.
I’ve repeatedly asked city councilor Reg Rankin when Regency Park Drive will be extended from Lacewood to Washmill but have yet to receive any kind of reply. I understand he is dealing with some personal matters so the rate payers can go fuck themselves. Evidently.
I suspect that once the new bus terminal is built, there will be significant route changes which will hopefully include Washmill. As with anything Halifax, hurry up and wait.
HaliOOPs— Don’t expect a reply from Good ol’ Reggie. He’s getting on in years and unfortunately, since his district has been redrawn 800 times since his days as deputy mayor under Walter Fitzgerald, he doesn’t know which day of the week it is anymore. It’s always one “personal” thing or another with that guy.
@Breakfast Sandwich — along with your route suggestions, I see the loop including BLP. It will be nice to get the current terminus away from Clayton Park.
@Doc Fever — I hear ya re: Rankin and don’t really expect to hear from him. That being said, it would be nice to have some proactive representatives in this city that will get out to meet us citizens and come up with some better ideas … and then implement them.
I guess all I can do is express my displeasure and hope that enough people remember at the next election. Sadly, too late.
What I’m wondering is – will there be an entrance off of Lacewood to the new terminal, or are all the buses going to have to go up what’s it’s face’s street past the Canada Games Centre and through that driveway used during construction — it’ll have a significant affect on scheduling if there’s no Lacewood entrance.
But since the tender to actually build the thing only closed last month, I think it’ll be a while before it’s actually completed and opened.
@Pretty Kitty — I think they should open up Regency to Washmill first as the Lacewood construction will be quite disruptive especially through the paving phase. This would help alleviate traffic flow at Dunbrack & Lacewood. I am not holding my breath though.
I suspect from a couple of the “berms” I’ve seen shaped from Lacewood on the backside of the Canada Games Centre that they may be planning a “pull-in” much like what is happening at the Mumford terminus.
Damn buses be all show and no go.
Now don’t you go clogging up that new washmill entrance to bayers lake…
that’s my stealthy, ninja entrance when I go to see a movie.
I’m usually taking longer in the line to get tickets than to actually get to the theatre and I wanna keep it that way.
they should’ve painted the engines so they would stop leaking oil for a little while.
wow op, you’re a lucky guy / gal. Not one person cut you up or was rude towards you and this is ‘yet another bus bitch’. I agree with you as well, total waste of money.
