I would like to remind all citizens sharing our city streets and sidewalks in the proper use of a bicycle bell/horn. Cyclists should always ring their bell when approaching slower moving traffic…pedestrian or cyclists…from the front or the rear. Just a jingle, no need to lay on it. The bell is not meant to shoo people out of the way, but to alert them that a bicycle is approaching. Simply a “heads up” so I don’t startle a little old lady into pooping her panties.

It is the overtaking cyclists responsibility to then make a safe move to get around the other party. Kind of like overtaking/passing vehicles on the highway with your car. Pedestrians, don’t give me a dirty look when I jangle my bell. I only want you to be aware of my presence. Cyclists, don’t be douches: ring your bell, have safety lighting, wear reflective clothing and drive safely obeying all vehicular laws. -Old Guy Cyclist That Does Not Wear Spandex

  1. Good bitch. And we thank you for not wearing spandex. Spandex looks awful on the vast majoity of people. I rate it right up there with Speedos.

  2. # T.T. Fonebone — hell yeah! But I’ve mellowed over the years and find that sharing is caring and I always ask, “Why can’t we all just get along?”

#Bro Tim — I was nine years old when I decided I never wanted to wear Speedos again. Dropped swim club and joined the football team.

  3. I LOVE this bitch!

Don’t walk out of a coffeeshop in Amsterdam and walk up the street! You want bells? OMFG! It’s a cachauphony!

The law doesn’t require us to have a bell. If we’re on the sidewalk, use a stick and jam it into our spokes. Then spit in our faces and laugh; otherwise, fuck off.

I love spandex (and speedos) on the right guys; otherwise, fuck off.

My ability to suck cock has nothing to do with having a bell on my bike.

  4. Sorry Meaty, right from the Nova Scotian government “Bell or Horn – You must have a bell or horn to warn
pedestrians and other vehicles that you are
    approaching.”

  5. also from the Highway Traffic act : Every motor vehicle, motor assisted bicycle and bicycle shall be equipped with an alarm bell, gong or horn, which shall be kept in good working order and sounded whenever it is reasonably necessary to notify pedestrians or others of its approach. R.S.O. 1990, c. H.8, s. 75 (5).
