I am so fucking sick of every serious issue in the media being minimized because someone decides they want to reveal their muff-munching status. Who the fuck cares? Shouldn’t this be a non-issue these days? Why consume every media outlet with this unnecessary crap??? —Sick of Media Whores and Their Lame Confessions

  1. well obviously the great unwashed care, because that’s who the media panders to.

if you ENJOYED what the media offers, wouldn’t you be ashamed? no? that’s because if you enjoyed it, you would be one of the great unwashed.

be pleased with your own standards.

♥Ivan has not just reached for the rainbow, he has draped himself in it and DAYUM – he looks fine♥

  3. You know… because it takes so much god damn ‘courage’ to be who you really are…
in a state that already recognizes all that.

    whatev’s

  4. Considering some of the comments I saw online reacting to this, I’d say it is still necessary to make a story out of it. I read some really backwards shit on the weekend, for some reason I thought people who believed the world was 6000 years old were just made up or faking it, but no, they’re real and some of them are my age or younger. Scary.

  5. The world is full of holier-than-thou’s who think a book written at a time when man’s understanding of nature, science, genetics etc. was less advanced than the Flat-earthers who came along a few centuries later gives them authority to ostrasize fellow human beings. Forward thinking individuals (heavy emphasis on thinking) recognize them for the fools they are. Sadly, we are still in the minority.

  6. she once gave me attitude in a coffee shop because I had a camera. I didn’t even know who she was at the time. I forgive you. lol

I like her acting. Don’t really care about anything else – it’s her private life.

  7. Oh fucking please, she held a press conference and read a speech about something that is nobodys business but hers and, some actress using her celebrity to “come out” in a media forum is not “courageous”, its a publicity stunt. This is nothing more than some self serving bullshit wrought with personal gain. What’s courageous is some little nobody that “comes out” in some redneck town, against all odds, to parents that are against that lifestyle. That’s courageous!!!

  8. True, let’s not call it courageous. Let’s call it “inspirational to some little nobody that “comes out” in some redneck town, against all odds, to parents that are against that lifestyle.”

And, um, it wasn’t a ‘press conference’.

  9. Meh, I didn’t read nor watch that kind of drivel. I just plain don’t care what celebrities do with their spare time, whether it be “coming out” or taking a dump!!!

  10. The real issue here is that some people still think, in 2014, it is okay to bash n slash gays. If people like Ellen, who are in the public eye, want to lend support to others in the LGBT community who are being bullied and discriminated against, some to the point of suicide or homicide, I fail to see anything wrong with that.

Progressive thinking is changing perceptions, but real reform needs to come from within religious thinking. Its failure to evolve with science to acknowledge the diversity of nature’s sexual spectrum does a huge disservice to it’s followers by encouraging bigotry, bullying and discrimination in the name of a god. The piety paradox in all its hypocritical glory.

  11. MUFF MUNCHING

The real question here, of course, is whether or not there are degrees of expertise in muff munching or is it all a matter of simple routine. Is more like an Olympic sport or more like a walk in the park?

    A pleasure as always.

    Cheerio!

  12. Meh, I know she came out. I know she was honoured for it and I know there was a speech of some kind. I also know that I don’t consider celebrities to be any kind of heros and I can’t say if I were gay that I would be waiting to hear that any celebrity was gay before I made that decision. I think the very idea of some public coming out is just ridiculous, for anyone. Being gay is being who you are and being who you are is no ones business but yours.

You know what? My sister is gay and grew up in a small minded hicktown. To my knowledge, I don’t believe she “came out” to anyone who wasn’t family. I know for a fact she didn’t let anyone’s opinion sway her decision on how to live her life and, I also know it wouldn’t have made any difference in her life had she known that Ellen Page was gay. She went through high school , university, and now has her Phd. I’ll ask her this weekend whether or not any celebrities being gay influenced her decisions. Hey, you never know, maybe she carried around pics of Rosie O’Donnell in her purse.

Maybe I don’t get it. I just think that society puts too much emphasis on celebrities as spokespeople, especially since they are somewhat insulated from the real world. Like Neil Young and the oil sands or Jenny mcarthy and her bullshit about autizm.

  13. Yes, I think you just don’t get it. I wouldn’t worry about it, I don’t “get” NASCAR but I understand it is very popular.

I would not place much weight on your gay sister’s reaction, any more than I would on whether a random black person thinks Eddie Murphy is funny or not.

Yes, a lot of gay celebs use coming out as some kind of way to leverage their stardom for future gain. Page’s announcement was in the context of support for gay kids thing or something, so it makes sense.

  14. ‘Frank’ magazine broke the ‘Page is gay’ story 5 years ago; complete with photos of her and her main squeeze.

  15. I don’t get this point of view. Is anyone forcing you to read articles or watch newspieces? Are you not able to change the channel on the radio/TV or refrain from clicking on news articles pertaining to this story? Not everyone is going to care about every piece of media/news. A lot of people like to keep track of celebrities and their private doings for whatever reason (I think it’s because their acting or singing or whatever touches them on a personal level and the “identify with” their favorite celebs and feel like they know them al little) The trick is to not waste your time on things that you don’t care about.
