I love a good event!!! But when its 5pm on a Saturday and the event is next to a large submarine playground, don’t use explicit lyrics!!! Have some common sense in front of children. They don’t know what sex, weed and your slang means. And shouldn’t have to. You’re rude and loud. I hope the organizers of the event are ashamed. —Cover Your Ears

  1. What kind of greasy city planner puts a playground next to a bar?

Op it seems the only people who are shocked at what children are hearing are the adults who don’t know how to deal with it. I don’t know if you remember being a kid or not. But I do. And kids are both more dismissive and resilient than you give them credit for.

  2. lolol, I doubt anyone without a lyric sheet in their mitts could have figured out the words anyway. nice rousing tune. now ‘last of barratts privateers’ repeats ‘goddam them all’ so often, and so loudly, one can’t help but hear it.
do I mention that song too often? too bad bwahahahahaha

and OP, if they ‘don’t know what sex, weed and your slang mean’ then what’s the problem? just words that have no meaning for the kiddies.

  3. Why do people think kids can magically hear and know what bad words are? First off I have a hard time hearing words in music a lot of the time, live music can be more difficult with all the noise around and so on. The kids at the playground prob were not paying attention to the song but rather what ever game they were playing and the kids around them, and its doubtfulthat they would be able to pick out the lyrics from a song and sing them back to you and if they do recognize some bad words then they would already have known them.

  4. I believe that OB is referring to the free hiphop event held by the Wave (next to the submarine playground). It ran from 5pm-10pm.

  5. I tried posting the foul version of Barnacle Bill, but it wouldn’t go.
open the door you fucking old whore said barnacle Bill the sailor etc. etc

  6. That’s crappy. I’m sure they got in some trouble. If its one thing us halagonians are good for its phoning and complaining to the city! Lol. I love this place.

  7. so the question remains, how could the kiddies in their underwater playground even hear the damn music? (much less breathe?)

  8. This is a little extreme. One night, it was one event for one night. Don’t take your kids to a hip hop festival.

And OB, it sounds like you didn’t have kids there. You’re just worried about everyone elses.

My daughter has listened to Rancid from the day she was born. In their words, here you go:
