I am going to start this off by saying that I am from Ontario but moved to Halifax 5 years ago. For a new job we needed to buy a car finally, and after walking and taking the bus for so long here this SEEMED like a welcome addition. Well, let me start by saying I have thousands of hours driving in my life as I drove in a busy city for a job for over 5 years. Anyone who drives with me considers me the safest driver ever. I have been driving a brand new car for 1 week here so far. Let me say one thing…. People from this province are either stunned, have the attention span of a Pigeon or are mentally handicapped. Drivers Ed here must have been how to place your coffee mug in the cup holder. Congratulations on being the province with easily the worst drivers in Canada. I could go on to say a thousand more points but I have probably lost your attention or used too many big words for you to understand. Go back to your “driving” as I am sure you are reading this while doing so. —Go run yourself over

After watching Canada’s Worst Driver…i can tell you this much. There are far more bad drivers in Ont. than here…I’m from Ontario…St. Catharines to be exact..just so you know before hating my comment.
According to TC (Transport Canada), the OB is absolutely correct.

Why do you feel this is the province with the worst drivers in Canada? What causes you to feel that way? You haven’t indicated.

I’m from ‘away’ but I think it’s a really lazy, pointless point of view to whine that things are so much better there than here.
There might be lots of crappy drivers here (my theory is it’s so quiet that folks get away with lower standards with regard to how safe their driving is) BUT I object to you slagging off NS people in any way shape or form.

You go on about your tax dollars supporting the maritimes like you single-handedly fund the provinces. You’re a fucking tool. The population of the maritimes is significantly lower than the rest of Canada and we pay for it with higher taxes and higher sales prices while continuing to contribute to federal taxes. So your self-righteous argument is invalid. I love meeting people from all over Canada and across the globe but people like you and Ustwess can take your arrogant asses back to whatever province you come from since it’s so much better than the one you’re in – you won’t be missed.

Well yes, you did lose my attention but that was because you used too many big words for me to understand.
Two of these big words were “make” and “say.” One would “make” – not “say” – a thousand more points while one would “say” – not “make” a thousand more words. Points are made, words are said. Do you understand the distinction? But I have probably lost your attention or used too many big words for you to understand.

A lot of upper canadians will tell easterners to “learn how to drive” because they stop for pedestrians. But here, that’s the law. It’s why i ask.
Maybe it’s YOU, op, who needs to be less ignorant of local customs. I don’t know.. you didn’t tell us.
I’m sorry. I feel your pain. People never signal here. It makes me crazy. And really, how long does it take to figure a roundabout? Stop signs even. And what is this thing where they tear the muffler out? So the car is all loud and driving up my street a dozen times at 12:30a? What is that? How is it discovered?

the drivers here have a perptual disease i call “left hand doesnt work syndrome” they also cannot use their right foot properly as a simple skill called throttle control is like speaking martian to them. Double left and right hand turns are completely unmanageable by drivers here. As are red lights, stop signs, signs of any sort are obviously posted in a foreign language. dont forget the random u turns, the inability to park, do proper lane changes, back up, observe rules of the road and the laws in the Highway traffic act. its no wonder that 3 accidents occur yesterday morning at the height of morning traffic on all 3 major routes into halifax penninsula. but they will say if you dont like it…move. instead of changing the mindset and getting actual training. (for me it was young drivers of canada, Aapex driving accademy and a police driving course)
klyde, im from st catherines too…and having driven everything from tractors to 20 tonne heavy movers, i can qualify that i feel safer driving in ontario and anywhere else than i do here. Even driving in Port Said Egypt(where i was terrified and shocked) and then coming back to halifax was even more scary. on portland street some dumb woman decided to do a u turn from the right lane across the incoming traffic(stopping in front of me doing 60km) how many people here do you see with their doors smashed in from people broadsiding others…i didnt see that many in ontario when i was there. there is this misconception that because im in a car i have the right to do whatever the fuck i want without any sort of consequence…like the woman i saw pull out into oncoming traffic, get t boned even though the guy made every attempt to avoid her. when i got up to her car after putting out traffic cones to see if everyone was alright…i notice the baby in the rear seat and she says “can we hurry this up im late for work” thats the kind of attitude many many many drivers have here.
There are the exceptions to the rule no matter where you are but I know where you’re coming from Cugja.
