I’ve had many, many close calls with idiot cyclists on sidewalks; I’ve been assaulted twice when I tried to talk with them; two tried following me after I told them they’re supposed to be on the sidewalk. I’ve called the Police to report them and the asssaults; results: NONE ; I guess they need more of a challenge because catching cyclist on the sidewalk would be like shooting fish in a barrell!

In this case I believe ‘cyclists’ means ‘douchebags’ – and OB is complaining about being assaulted, not biking on the sidewalk.

Yeah… and what did YOU do, OB, to piss SO MANY cyclists off that they follow you, assault you, intimidate you, etc.?
I might suggest that cyclists don’t engage motorists or pedestrians without reason… the reasons you left out of your complaint.
Let me assure you that I do the very same thing; I’ve even kicked in the doors of some vehicles who decided that my life wasn’t worth shit and tried to run me off the road or into parked cars.
My suggestion is to look at the conditions YOU created to cause such interactions… maybe you’ll learn a life lesson, no?!

On the day when bicycles have a bona fide piece of the road in cities everywhere, cyclists will only need to avail themselves of the sidewalk on rare occasions.
In North American cities with lousy bike infrastructure and drivers who don’t believe bikes belong on the road or know how to deal with them, why are people blaming the cyclists for trying to keep themselves alive instead of demanding road improvements, stronger laws, better enforcement and driver education so that cyclists can stay on the road and feel safe? Give us a place to ride safely and we will use it.

SETO2W, Comrade.
In my Spring Garden Road neighbourhood I see assholes on two wheels roll their crosswalks while pedestrians are crossing, and cars are stopped.
As a former cyclist, it pisses me off when people who piss and moan about not getting road respect ride like SETO2W(Self Entitled Twats On 2 Wheels). One day, after almost getting hit by an older SETO2W, I yelled “Hey asshole, the stop at a crosswalk is for you too”. He came back and asked me if I had anything better to do.
I told him that seeing as I spent 2 years in a hospital after getting hit by a truck not giving me right of way, I thought it was germain and prudent to advocate for myself when some dumbfuck drifts through the crosswalk while I’m in it.
I’ll all for more bike lanes, but cyclists have to pick a side- pedestrian or vehicle.
