Thank you, kind person, who decided it would be a good idea to dent the entire side of my car, making it unable to open the passenger side door, and not leave your fucking contact information.

I now have 3000$ in damage, on top of my broken laptop that I still need fixed. —sad and broke student

  1. Does this parking lot have any cameras around, you maybe able to go that route with a police report, must have been some smash not to be able to open the door.

  2. It’ll still drive… likely won’t pass inspection though.
Your passengers will get used to climbing over until you get it fixed.
Believe me, I drove a car with a seized driver-side door for a whole summer.
The first few times were awkward… it was pretty fluid after that.
(coincidentally, the drivers side power windows didn’t work and it had a hole in the muffler… luckily I was overcautious and wasn’t ever pulled over)

  3. Granted, the existing formal parking lot is not adequate & that the majority of people parked by the roadside aren’t trying to be jerks; but I say hurray for the parking enforcement officers. The bike lanes are there so people can safely ride – not for your convenient access. Perhaps instead of driving you could have used your own bikes – for the betterment of all.
Actually, you & others like you have been given a break for too long.

  4. That’s not how auto insurance works I don’t think.

YOUR insurance protects the people you hit. THEIR insurance protects you if they hit you. (Then there are also things like acts of god/theft etc but i think that shit is extra.)

This is why your insurance doesn’t go up if you’re not at fault.

Now.. mind you… you might be able to privately insure your vehicle so that if any damage is sustained, that private insurance will pay the damage (kind of like Rihanna with her legs) but that’s gonna cost you.

I’ve only had one accident and i was hit by someone who didn’t do a shoulder check. But because her insurance would have gone up majorly (this was her third or fourth idiocy-related accident) she decided to settle outside insurance. Which is also fine.

Anyway.. yeah. Can’t really ding the insurance of someone who takes off. Unless i’m missing something. I’m not super-schooled in car accidents since i haven’t had any other than that particular one.

  5. My wife and I have a habit to park in the middle of Butt Fuck Nowhere and walk to the shopping establishment.

  6. Getting to the point that the stores themselves are mostly now in B F N (Señor C’s apt phrase) these days. Cripes forbid that stores open where humans actually live, and can get to them without going through highway hell. Then the horrors of the parking lot. Best of luck with your car repair etc.

  7. One of the best laid out, and spacious parking lots, is the one at the Sobey’s out in Larry Uteck.

  8. Crayons: he could run it under conprehensive under his own insurance if he has it.

  9. Good point dartguy, but the stores that open where people actually live don’t provide large enough parking lots.

  10. Isn’t it interesting how people, who know nothing about a topic, seem to have a lot to say about it…?!

  11. The only two issues with running something under comprehensive is that two claims and your insurance goes way the fuck up, and usually there’s a $500 deductible.

Still better than paying thousands to fix something if you’ve never had a comp claim before.
