Yesterday I saw a woman walking her dog near the Almon Street post office. Her dog barked at another man, but not in a mean way. In a, “C’mon, play with me!” way. But it’s okay if you find dog body language difficult to interpret. You don’t have to like a dog barking at you. But shrug it off and walk away. Don’t call the cops like this guy did, citing that she “couldn’t control her dog.” Bullshit. More like he couldn’t control the idea that a dog didn’t like him–what a smart dog! A waste of police time and an embarrassment to the woman who had a friendly dog. And what a way to ruin the beautiful Sunday we just had. Old man, do us a favour: go back to sitting on your porch and yelling at people to get off your lawn. Save money on our taxes and your cell phone bill. —I Was So Enjoying the Sunshine

  1. what a miserable old cuss. sounds like op is a neighbour, and sees this curmudgeonly behaviour from him often.
op, one wonders, what is so attractive about his lawn that people just have to walk on it? corner lot?

if the police did nothing when they attended, then I think we can safely assume that dog was on a leash, or she would have been fined, neh? he barked. not lunged, or leaped, or sidled or crept or shinnied.
send the old fart my address, the pup goes for the groin on any male that enters the yard. in a friendly, vigorous sniffing way, but the results are usually high pitched. there’s a price to be paid for my brunches.

  2. ^^ funny that, I never had any interest in smaller (under 75 pounds) dogs until jack. now I see the appeal in a little buddy you can pick up. sorta pickup. the bugger has doubled in weight since he is getting fed.

  3. Right now I’m in a place where a mother robin has made a nest in a hanging potted plant on the veranda, the cat takes breakfast at the kitchen table and daintly nibbles titbits of bacon and toast and a large dog that my parents don’t own is invariably sprawled on the floor savoring the AC. Also, theres a large pot of borscht on the stove.
    Rawk!

  4. Perhaps the old geezer didn’t, unike you, speak Doganese and misinterpreted the lurch?
I’d be more concerned at the 139 calls that the police have received about irresponsible pooch owners leaving their beloved pets in a car in extreme heat, see, I did that and am not on my porch.

  5. nice commander, i remember that dog. i can smell the soup, yummy, you do not have cancer. the dreaded red poop

  6. *breathes sigh of relief*

Thanks Painey. The kitteh is tailless, has a tiny head and is round as a soccer ball. From the proper angle she resembles a Tribble.
    Sounds like one, too.

  7. so sorry to hear our beloved ivanski has passed on.

well. it sure sounds like you ended up in heaven…so…..LOL

  8. ♥ GDM.
It’s a pretty sweet billet. I don’t get to see the folks as often as I’d like so I’m making the most.
