Listen dick, When I tell you that I cannot complete a piece of work until another department completes their work, this means exactly what it says. And in the spirit of that logic, it implies that nagging me won’t make THEM complete their work any faster. If I were their manager or otherwise overseeing their tasks, it might have some impact but I am NOT their manager, nor do I have any ability to oversee their tasks beyond passing your pissy messages along and being in the middle of a stress ball.

If you want something done that only THEY have control over, please nag them yourself instead of getting me to do your dirty work. It’s getting annoying. —Stuck in the middle… with you….

  1. But but but I’m the customer and I’m always right. You must bend over and kiss my rosy ass. Man I’d love to find the person who said the customer is always right and put him or her in the complaint department. And if they’re dead maybe that will be their hell, to deal with asshole customers.

  2. Um, give them that department’s direct contact and tell them (nicely) to contact them directly? Orrr contact the manager of the person who won’t get their shit together and explain the situation?

It’s called ‘problem solving,’ ob. It tends to be useful in the workplace.

  3. Just get their number and tell them you’ll call when you have some news or give them the number of the pertinent person in the other department so he can start nagging the snot out of them instead. It’s called passing the buck and it tends to be useful in the workplace.

  4. sorry about your troubles, more context would be helpful

I see the summit queen wants your personal information and your place of employment OP. Guess they want to smear it around and belittle you too.

Its not about costumer service either. Its inter-departmental issues, so “problem solving” wouldn’t work either. You can only berate and belittle those who work for you, not people in another department that DON’T work for you.

My goodness, some of you people just assume too much. LMFAO. Another legitimate bitch NOT solved by the regulars… but of course they have to pretend to be know-it-alls.

Hang in there OP, I worked for a person with little man syndrome who was also divorced. I stuck through it with my husbands help and now I have a wonderful pension and most of my investments have payed off well.

  5. ‘When the noted playwright George Bernard Shaw sent him two tickets to the opening night of his new play with a note that read: “Bring a friend, if you have one,” Churchill, not to be outdone, promptly wired back: “You and your play can go fuck yourselves.”’

  6. Sometimes it’s necessary to let your manager know what’s up and see if they can speak to, or give you permission to, speak to the employee’s manager who won’t get their work done. There may be a valid reason. The client might just be an entitled asshole who thinks they are the only people on earth, or the person/people not getting their part of the work done might just be slackers.

There’s always things you can do to be proactive, OB. Don’t let it stress you out. Way too many people take their work too personally and let it affect their wellbeing. As long as your shit is taken care of, you have nothing to worry about. But, again, sitting around stressing and doing nothing proactive about it isn’t going to make anything better. Problem solving is an essential skill in both life and the work place (any work place).

  7. Pretty… These are awesome suggestions and i tried them all. And actually the “dick” i refer to in this bitch.. i feel for this guy. I really do because he’s stuck just like i am. He tries to reach them, I try to reach them and neither of us have any luck. At least he doesn’t nag me now. We’re trying to work together to pick up the slack.

I’ve talked to my manager and he just says “You have to nag them more” – well DUH… It’s become my full time job when, as a manager of all of us, shouldn’t that be HIS job? What is this guy managing exactly? I don’t mind keeping up the nagging but a lot of people suffer if this isn’t complete on time, including our customers. And when other people don’t do their jobs, they all blame me when it’s over. It’s happened before.

To make matters worse, I am constantly getting conflicting information from different people. One person will tell me one thing, another person will tell me another thing and then the first person will come back to me and ask me what the fuck i think i’m doing not knowing what the right information is.

Sometimes i think it’s a conspiracy to eject me from the place. I have a good work history and have never felt quite like this before. I do not have a popular job. I’m part of a quality control team. And hiring me introduced a new level to quality control. Nobody likes that, I get it.. but i’ve had nothing but head-butting since i started this job. Nobody wants to adjust their methods to meet my new requirements but everybody wants those requirements met.

Might be time to put feelers out for something new. I hate to give up. I haven’t been there quite for a year yet. But… it’s not working out.

  8. Ugh, sounds like something you don’t want to spend your life doing. It never hurts to see what’s out there. Good luck!

  9. agreed. Not a good situation you’re in. Not at all. You’re not appreciated op. You should be. Sounds like you’re working your ass off for a bunch of people who don’t want to be accountable for the things that need to be done.

  10. And op? I don’t know what sort of QA you do (There are lots of kinds of QA ) But you’re right. Nobody likes the cold, harsh reality of the QA perspective. It’s why your job is so important. You provide people the means with which to do their jobs better. That’s not an easy hat to wear, my dear. Hang in there. I work in software so I know this when i say it… You may not be popular but you’re needed.

    Very needed.
