To the blonde lady at the big mall in Dartmouth on Sunday who was parked in a handicapped spot with her preteen daughter, you suck. Did you not notice the elderly couple driving around, who also had a handicapped permit, looking for a spot in the handicapped spots? When we questioned you as to why you were parked there when you were leaving the mall, you said you were going to pick up your husband, who the pass was for. But we told you that we saw you park when we came in and he wasn’t with you, you jumped in your car and drove out of the mall. If in fact your husband really needs the permit, you are just showing so much disrespect to your husband and for the handicapped people who really need it. To do this in front of your daughter and lie about your reasons is deplorable. What kind of message do you think you are sending to her? I can tell you that children learn from their parents, and she is learning to lie, cheat and be disrespectful to others. Good luck to you as she becomes a teenager! Does your husband know that you are using his permit because you are too lazy to walk from a spot further away? I’m so glad that you were able to walk around the mall a go shopping. —Crazy Latin Woman

Blonde lady …. mall … .what else would you expect?
I agree with your overall sentiment, OB, but who are YOU to question someone with a permit to park there? Not everyone who is disabled LOOKS disabled. Especially if they have the permit due to illness. And some people with foot ulcers need permits, but don’t appear to be disabled. Yes, this chick was a fraud, but what if she wasn’t? What if she had a heart condition? And if that had been the case, why do you feel she owes you an explaination?
You never know the situation, OB, and it’s really none of your business.
The thing that makes me laugh is the big ass 4X4’s, that you have to climb into using handles and steps, parked in handicapped spaces. Makes you wonder, if they can summon the strength to climb into one of these, what could possibly be preventing them from walking the extra 25 steps it would take to use a regular space.
As far as I’m concerned, about half of those card holders are just lazy douchebags, taking advantage of a system that is easy to take advantage of. Just like the assclowns who don’t have to wear a seatbelt because of “claustrophobia”. All it takes is a note from your doctor, I could probably get one FFS!!!!
Don’t even get me started on this topic. (proceeds to break fresh egg to fry on furrowed forehead)
SHITD- My parents used to drive one of those SUVs and my father very much needed those spaces. PK’s right- most times you don’t know the fucking situation.
He’s got a progressive disease. They “make too much” to qualify for any kind of assistance, but not enough that they’re not CONSTANTLY worried about how they’re going to make it through the next few months of needing more and more things to make his life suck less. They had a gilant SUV when he was diagnosed, and were stuck with that for a while before they could buy something more economical. When they were able to purchase another vehicle, it too ended up being an SUV, though a smaller version. The reason? It was the most comfortable for my dad out of the models they could kind of afford that mom was comfortable with the thought of driving on country roads in the winter. It also held the gear now necessary for them to even leave the house.
My point? Fuck people who judge and fuck people who abuse those cards. You don’t know the situation. Do people abuse those cards- absolutely, but as a person who’s taken on the role of protective daughter when dad’s illness wasn’t so obvious and people were giving he and my mother shit for using something they needed- you don’t know. You can’t always know. The abusers suck, but being judged and questioned when you’re already having an ass-y day for whatever reason sucks a lot more.
PK, I read it as OP said she used the spot for her disabled husband. Unfortunately she returned to the spot sans the disabled husband and drove off. She is blonde so maybe she thinks the permit is for the vehicle not the person.
That’s why I said “obviously she was a fraud,” reg. 😉
She COULD have had an illness that doesn’t make her look disabled if she wasn’t a fraud. I’ve seen the application forms for the permits and one section is for illness such as heart and lung illnesses.
Also, SHITTY — some people who need those spots need them because they need to be off their feet as much as possible. My dad does have a degenerative ankle ailment which makes it painful to walk, BUT he also has re occurring foot ulcers due to the infection he had in his ankle bone and while he could walk without pain, he can’t put too much pressure on his feet because it will break the ulcers open and risk another bone infection. If he didn’t limp, he’d STILL need the permit and it wouldn’t matter if he had a truck — he could still get in and out.
He actually doesn’t want to use the spots — we have to force him to do so. He also tries to sneak back to the gym, which he’s under orders from his doctors not to do. Honestly, if you didn’t see him with his huge ass orthopedic sandals, you’d think he was a-o-k.
There is someone in my family that has been handicapped at different times due to illness and one time she asked someone to open a door for her because there was no button to open it for her and the lady working at the store questioned her and made her feel like shit, she came home and cried and didn’t feel like going out shopping for a while because she was worried about being approached because she doesn’t look handicapped.. Please don’t approach people you don’t know.. a fraud or not.. your not the handicap guard of the parking lot.
