You were following my Civic in your fancy new silver Jeep Grand Cherokee (loaded, I’m sure). You were a “man” in your late 50’s I expect; the colour of your hair matched your paint job. I was in the left lane, doing the speed limit; a car in the right lane beside me doing the same. You were frantically waving your arms at me to pull over, speed up, or whatever the Hell that meant. I put my brakes on to grab your attention and as we approached the end of the school zone sign I put my window down, pointed angrily at the school sign and flipped you the bird. Funny that we were only 0.25 kms from your turn off, outbound on the 102. You weren’t even in the right lane! I am so sick and tired of these fucking idiots who think they have their own rules on the road. One of these days your impatience is going to kill someone–perhaps a kid in a school zone. Shame on you! Chances are you’re too good for “The Coast” and will never see this. Grrrrr! —Not Too Cool For School!

Dunbrack has two lanes and exits to the 102, with a school zone <100m of the exit in my best estimate. Cops like to sit in the carpool lot and ticket people who speed up to 80km while still in the 60km zone.
If it is Fairview, then who cares how many kids you run over? You’re likely running over a future criminal anyway.

Sounds like Joseph Howe coming from the former rotary towards the turn-off to the 102. There is a school not far from the Chronicle Herald building on Joseph Howe and it is double lanes.
That said OP, you should give this guy some slack. Driving SUVs seems to cause serious brain damage.

Oprah…you find trouble anywhere, not just Fairview. It’s who you choose to hang with, not necessarily the neighbourhood. I work in another such “area” and have to say that I have met some of the nicest people in all of HRM. I haven’t seen any crime (or very limited)…no trouble at all really! I’m sure most of the negative comments about these areas are coming from the “mucky mucks” of the city. Or…….the wannabes. Sometimes people don’t have a choice of where they have to live; they make the best of it.
Why not just pull over into the right lane and allow him to pass? If he was speeding, that’s not for you to police…
Pretty difficult to pull over when you have another car beside you going exactly the same speed! I (yes it was me), was in the correct lane for where I was going. He, on the other hand was not in the correct lane and wanted to take the 102 exit outbound! He should have been in the right lane, period! I just don’t get it!

If he was turning he should have been in the right lane and being an asshole to the person driving the speed limit in that lane, not the OB’s lane.

1. The left lane is indeed a passing lane and it’s for passing (per the law)
2. Even if someone illegally speeds, you’re not supposed to have been there, holding up those wishing to pass.
3. If you want the Police to police speeders, call them – don’t use LTWWB (they don’t read it for that reason).

meaty i totally disagree. If i have a kid who is at a school that some maniac blitzes past every day and the police aren’t doing fuck all about it, you can BET YOUR ASS I’ll police the area. The left lane also is for through-traffic and is to be used to pass slower traffic or for those folks (like me), who have a left turn coming up. He was wrong on so many levels, not me!
