I ordered onion rings to go. When I got home you had unbeknownst to me poured honey all over them. WTF is that? Good thing I didn’t order french fries. You probably would have smeared mayo all over them. Big yuck… —Where Do You Think You Are? Holland?

  1. Honey on Onion Rings is nothing short of genius. The Captain was originally skeptical, but has since been won over.

  2. Agreed Captain. They are delish!

Not a fan of fries and mayo though. Mind you, sweet potato fries with curry mayo is fantastic.

  3. It’s sooo much better than you’d think.

boomy, YOU sound like a horrendous combination! Now go try the damn Onion Rings & Honey, Honey!

  4. good onion rings are hard to find, i think this is a signature dish for them. never had the pleasure

  5. That’s gross, it should be clearly stated on the menu or just put on the side. Usually any sauce dip or dressing is on the side when you order to go don’t they? But who orders onion rings to go? They were probably cold anyway 🙁

  6. I’m with you, OB – like my rings with ketchup, don’t fuck with the rings. Maybe they’re trying to do a take on carmelized onions or somethin’? Not cool.

  7. But a teeny-tiny bit in scrambled eggs is tasty Painy….and honey is good with just about anything, except maybe already-ketchuped (‘caught-up’??) eggs, lol:P

  8. How about peanut butter & molasses sandwiches, Painey? That was a staple when I was a kid – also, the only way I’d eat liver & onions as a kid was if I had a side of molasses to dip the piece of liver in.

A few other odd choices as a kid – corn syrup for pancakes and Kraft pizzas with wieners & processed cheese.

  9. While we’re on the subject of burger joints, kudos to the Coast on this whole Burger Week thing. I haven’t been in a burger joint this week, nor have I had onion rings with honey on them and that link didn’t work for me but still.. it’s been a pretty good experience all around.

  10. At least the A&W is close to that place, for some ‘usual’ rings, if needed, after a CC burger.

First time a friend and I ordered rings at CC we had missed anything on the menu about honey on the rings. After our first bites, and gags, I just brought them to the counter and got them exchanged for non-sprayed ones. If I order rings there again I shall remember to ask for non-sprayed rings. As said in another post here they should probably serve the honey on the side if someone wants it. Not everyone is into a sweet taste on a usually savory treat. Meanwhile their burgers do rock the planet.

  11. Your remarks on the CC cracked me up, dartguy, especially about the squirting onion rings – so fucking true – nothing your heart loves better than a gush of grease racing down your arteries at neck break speed.

My favs are A&Ws – it’s the spanish onion that does it for me.

  12. With you on the A&W onion rings, TTFN. Especially when right out of the fryer, as they do go downhill quickly if left to sit for a while. Have had to exchange an order at times, but usually they are done right the first time. Now I am hungry.

  13. Cheese curds put me on to honey on the onion rings. they asked me if I wanted to try it though, I wouldn’t have appreciated it either if they just put it on without asking. It was delicious though. As far as mayo on fries, in Europe their Mayo is different and goes pretty good with fries, but I’m not a fan of regular Hellman’s or Kraft mayo on fries. But if you’re ever in Europe give it a try.
