I cannot believe the enormous stupidity of dog owners who buy those horrible doggie dental chews they advertise of TV. Get your dog a good old butcher’s bone which will make your canine’s teeth white & healthy. Don’t buy these horrible, additive-ridden products. They are every bit as bad as the beef or chicken jerky they sell that’s made in China. Or the dog food you buy with ANY ash content. If you love your pet, don’t infect him or her with chemicals. Same goes for cat food. No wonder vets are so rich from the effects of these harmful substances. —Sometimes the Old Ways Are the Best Ways

  1. But best of all is a good feed of shoe leather aimed directly at the yappers whiny gorge. Yeah save your money, a good kick does wonders.

  2. While I don’t buy the dental chews, I totally forgot about using butcher bones. Thanks OB. Oh, and paingirl, I love it, thank you too.

Off topic now; With all the drama (which has been amazingly funny) lately I thought I’d do some math. Wogdog, since February 15th you have gotten 518 Likes, hilariously you have gotten 952 Dislikes. Just thought I’d point that out to you.

  3. sonic I don’t care. I don’t base my posts on what people like or dislike. Those criteria matter not to me or to my self esteem. I don’t base my self worth on the ratings of a few people, those few have too many imposters to mention. You should know by now that I come on here to express my opinion and to be entertained during my convalesense. Likes/dislikes don’t matter, otherwise I would have folded like a cheap shirt, like many of you have just to be ‘accepted’ by the bullies on here. I am me and will continue to be. Like it or lump it.

  4. Yeah… I guess you haven’t been up-to-date on the latest research into butcher bones. Turns out that these bones can splinter and embed into your dogs stomach causing massive internal bleeding or other injures. Furthermore any bones (chicken, beef, etc) you give to your dog can potentially cause choking because they don’t breakdown like normal dental chews.

If you’re going to give your dog something to chew and clean his teeth, use a toy recommended for that exact reason and brush your dogs teeth. This way you don’t need to worry about something splintering and lodging into your dogs throat

  5. yes o.p., i agree, but to a limit. there are far more nutrients in the fake ones, and also more antibiotics to keep animal safe. i used to always give my dogs a real one, once or twice a week, but the others everyday. some of the treats they have now, are just pure garbage, that i wouldn’t even feed a skunk, or a raccoon.

  6. I’m so confused now, buy dental chews or take my chances with the bones that may splinter? When did life get so difficult?

wogdog; 952 Dislikes in less than two weeks is not a “few people” not liking you. Its hundreds of people……..

  7. wogdog; You can’t say anything, 952 Dislikes says it all so very well. I also didn’t mention that you had only two comments that the positive reception outweighed the negative. So now, “what can you say”?

  8. Oh I don’t know….how about….who cares??? You must be hard of hearing, see my previous comments. boo hoo hoo…..

  9. You answered your self wogdog, you do care. Someone that doesn’t would not take the time to respond to me. Some one who keeps saying they don’t care would not be the Top Commenter. See, you do care…. on every thread.

  10. JUST WOW You summit clique are really hateful! You guys are ruthless when someone doesn’t agree with your point of view. I can totally see the comparison between the clique on this board and Nazis or a witch-hunt. Atleast wogs and MM got the guts to be themselves and say their piece. The clique on the other hand is truly boring with their collective opinion – afraid to say what they really mean for fear of angering their giant ginger gift-giving leader, Ivan. You guys need to gang up on someone and cyber-bully them because her opinions are different from yours? One says something, all the others jump on the band wagon. So what woggie is a Christian..so what she doesn’t like dogs. Who gives a fuck? Insulting someone while debating an issue is a sure sign that you ain’t got a brain God’d give a duck. And bashing someone else’s religion, whatever that may be, is discrimination and only a recipe for ignorance.

  11. no_fool; That was funny, you probably didn’t try, but that was one of the funniest things you’ve posted.

You got one thing right though, your analysis of the Summit Clique….. After reading through some of the history on past threads I see it more and more every day, and I don’t wonder why some very funny/clever posters give up on here and don’t post again. I notice that the “regulars” dominate every thread and very few opinions are respected outside of that “circle”. That I feel is because when a Summit happens, everyone becomes friends and puts a name to a face, that sort of thing is what Facebook is for, not the LTWWB Boards. I see the mob mentality you reference, but dear Ivan is not the root of it, he’s just a funny guy from what I can tell. I also feel the need to say I don’t belong to the summit crew, we just seem to see eye to eye on some things.

PS- I do love this site, those were just my observations from being outside and looking in.

  12. Can I just point out here that I’m a big boy. I can take being called a Nazi. I can take being called a bully. I can even take being called a rapist.
But calling me a ginger is entirely uncalled for, downright cruel and crosses a line.
I may be a Nazi bully rapist, but I DO have feelings, y’know.

  13. I have always heard that bones are not good for dogs (splintering, lodging in the intestine) which really does not make sense. Dogs are descended from wolves which eat bones. There are a lot of nutrients in bones for dogs. Still don’t bash those who use the store bought dental bones, they probably have concerns about the splintering effect.
What’s a dog’s favourite bone? Probably one of Woggie’s tibia.

  14. Actually, bones are perfectly safe as long as they are raw. It’s the cooked ones that could splinter and cause injury.

Vets make millions from endorsing dry food made by the pet industry. Dry food is the worst, for cats and dogs. If I had the time and patience, I would make home-made food for my cat. But I don’t, so I buy a quality canned food that has NO carbohydrates. No wheat, no rice, no corn, etc. No plant matter is necessary, for either dogs or cats. (Although I’ve read that dogs sometimes enjoy chewing on raw carrots.)

And cats are obligate carnivoures, which means that they literally cannot process anything that isn’t meat. Any carbs create higher blood sugar, which can lead to feline diabetes.

  15. second what simply red saying… any vet that sells that crap food touted as ‘high end’ has no credibilty with me. and those dog chews and other poison from china should be all sent back and shoved down the manufacturers throats with a pitchfork.
my dogs have bones available at all times. they are either the smoked knuckles which give them a peaceful couple hours gnawing after dinner and that last for months, or the raw ones from the butcher, which they eat completely. either way, bones are for evening, rest and relax time. they do not pick them up at any other time.
they also eat whole, raw fish and chickens. the bones are soft, not splintery like cooked bones.
cooked bones are not ‘natural’. i throw a 1/4 chicken for each of them out in the back yard. they have a wonderful relaxing and enjoyable meal. and then they come in and lie on mats where they can gnaw on bones. the bones do not break. they are the dog equivalent of post prandial drinks. then they go to sleep. molly is 5 and her teeth are as white as a puppy’s. i have never touched them with a brush, and holistic vet called noofer ‘magnificently healthy’
my mother in laws cat lived on nothing but beef heart.
most commercial food is crap. i do feed the dogs some dry, evo and tow, but they also get veggies and fruit just because they like them.

  16. makes sense, it’s what they ate before dogfood manufacturers came about. the hound was fed much the same and he was healthy and had pearly whites

  17. i was given a pack of those dentalbone things and gave one to molly just to see. it turned to a slimy mush, which looked to me like it was coating her teeth. like a baby with an arrowroot biscuit. i think they increase tartar. nasty things. but they have breath sweeteners, so owners like them. hey, if your dog is healthy, i mean naturally healthy, there is no bad breath.

  18. Molly should’ve been on a low protein diet for her PKD… If only we had known 🙁

My little girl’s ashes get picked up tonight.

  19. I met a man in Point Pleasant who used to own a Yorkshire Terrier but died from a fragmented rib bone that got stuck in his stomach. You need to watch out for the smaller breeds and their little digestive systems.
