I just wanna say thanks, to the hundreds of people I see in a week who cheerfully show me their ID’s with no problem when I ask, and beyond that – THANK ME!
Yes, it’s a pain in the ass, and yes it gets stuck – or you don’t have it cause you forgot but you leave happily and nicely without any drama.
You can be 30 but if you look under 25 it is my JOB to ask and so many take it in good grace and are just lovely about it- even if they forgot and have to leave the store.
I just wanted to thank you all for not hating on me for what i’m supposed to do, and just being awesome Canadians. Thank you !!! —Your friendly neighborhood security guard at the NSLC

quinpool road jar store?
Yeah, is that you, goth-emo NSLC security chick at the Quinpool store?
Sorry for the one time my friends gave you shit because one of them didn’t have ID… still stupid, though!
I’m in my mid-20s but never get ID’d anymore. Makes me feel old.
I got ID’d at the Alehouse last weekend!! I was so flattered, I turned 28 the week before. 🙁 Gah. Those 30s are getting closer and closer….
I was id’d last week at the Rogers center…
I was thinking, what are you doing, I’m almost 30 and I’m buying a $10 beer and you’re carding me?
THANKS!
Booze is a privilege, not a right.
the only time i was carded was on my 19th at the hard-on (rock) cafe in toronto
I do a dance of joy every time they ask, even though I know I don’t actually look younger than 25, on a good day I might pass for 30. The last time was 2 weeks ago in CB, the dude looked a little taken aback when he realized I’ll be 35 in November.
i don’t understand the necessity in being carded when walking into a liquor store. i was under the impression you had to be nineteen to consume it, not look at it. it’s bizarre to me after coming from ontario and being allowed to peruse aisles and aisles at the lcbo without being asked about my birth date.
further, kicking out my partner because his id is expired is understandable if /those are the rules/, but then forbidding me to buy alcohol because you think i’m going to buy for him? bleh.
i am so thankful i don’t have your job.
It is unfortunate that more people are not familiar with the Liquor COntrol Act here in NS. It is a requirement to be “of age” and to carry your ID with you to be inside an NSLC Store. That is the LAW. We as Security Guards are tasked with enforcing the Law. We are Licensed by the Province of NS, as well as the NSLC, to provide Security to the STaff, the Customers, and then to the Product within the confines of the NSLC PRoperty.I agree with the sentiment of the original poster. I do appreciate the customers that understand the rules and regulations, and graciously comply with our wshes and requests. You remembered to bring your Keys, and your money. Is it hard to bring your ID?
We, as Security Guards within the NSLC Organization, do not make the rules and regulations. However, it is our Job to enforce those Rules and Regulations.
I love love love when you Id me. Makes me feel young and vibrant. I know its your job but it still makes me feel good …so thanks.
