I just wanted to thank you for the great article “Dear Mayor Savage” (Feature, November 8). It was so well done.
Please keep monitoring this man and all the politicians who make up Halifax city hall—if it weren’t for The Coast and its straightforward, honest reporting, we would still be stuck with Peter Kelly. Although he was a good man, power went to his head and he abused it.
Politicians need to understand that they are in power to serve the people of Halifax, not carve out their own personal kingdoms. And the ONLY way they are going to stay on the straight and narrow is by being watched and monitored closely. —Sharon Berkinshaw, Halifax

“…..Peter Kelly. Although he was a good man, power went to his head and he abused it. “
You must be kidding, right?
He didn’t have a clue what he was supposed to do in the Chair of the City. He didn’t know what power was. I imagine he spent many a day sharpening the box of pencils with a hand held sharpener (to save electricity) waiting for the next request to cut a ribbon on a store opening!
