Whatever happened to customer service in retail? Especially locally owned clothing stores? You know, the ones were all supposed to be supporting in order to keep local business’ alive in our depressing construction filled downtown? Upon entering this popular locally owned clothing store on argyle this afternoon (a slow afternoon at that, I observed quickly) and seeing 4/5 employees talking to each other and standing around I recieved no service while looking around nor when I was looking to get into a fitting room. I was simply stared at and stepped around. I work in customer service too guys, and it’s real shitty most of the time. But shit, it ain’t that hard to ask one of the 5 people looking around the store if they need a hand or to start a fitting room. But hey thanks for saving me from spending $100+ on half an outfit xo —Won’t be seeing you

If it’s any consolation OP, the store in question will most likely go out of business do to poor service. The employees will probably have to take a pay cut and work for walmart. Then, and only then, will they realize that they should of done a little better.
Maybe they have plans to get rich quick from impending lawsuits?
If I want service, I ask for it. Was your tongue tied in a square knot?
I would rather go into a shop and look around without being approached by staff. If we make eye contact a nod or “Hello” is fine. I don’t want to feel like I am under surveillance. If and when I do need help, simply looking directly at an available staff member will always bring them over and, if their back is to me, an “Excuse me” works. And, I’ve been in the store in question on my lunch break in the past and didn’t have any problem with the service. I found them very helpful and polite – without being intrusive.
Hit and miss in many stores especially clothing ones. Either staff are all over you like a sheet or giving the Ice Queen treatment. But as others have said just ask for assistance when you need it. I’d rather be left alone for a while, as often I just need some time alone to check things out before needing help. However, if you are ignored when you ask for help then it is time to walk, and let management know why.
Got left off my last comment … But staff could at least acknowledge you with a nod and or smile when you come in, to show that they see you and that they are available.
You want service, open your fucking mouth.

Biscuit General Store is litigating for compensation for lost business due to Nova Centre construction.
Apparently it’s actually due to shitty service…
I guess they think their clothes are so great they will sell themselves and answer any questions you may have.
