OK, listen, I get it. The Hydrostone neighbourhood is seen as this rich area where folks have money and as such should be giving out large amounts of candy because… well… hey. They’re rich what do they care?
As new residents in the Hydrostone area “from away” (if that sinks my bitch so be it), what I witnessed tonight while taking my little toddler around for his third Halloween was nothing less than looting with a Canadian veneer of feigned politeness. I’d estimate 75 percent of the kids were most certainly not from the neighbourhood with many being driven in by their parents. I saw kids who really had no interest in trick or treating being dragged around by parents puffing on cigarettes pulling grocery carts full of candy while their children begged to go home. I saw entire families hop into their cars after the night’s “festivities” we’re through to go… Where??? Back to their own neighbourhoods that apparently aren’t up to par for their family’s trick or treating needs? I witnessed literally hundreds of kids on every block of my neighbourhood mobbing, yes MOBBING my neighbours for candy while parents stood by and laughed, at times encouraging their rude “gimme gimme” attitudes. It was not fun or enjoyable or community-oriented or entertaining. It was literally the very worst of humanity played out through the most vulnerable and impressionable. Kids being shown that people are only worth what you can get from them. Why the eff weren’t these people in their own neighbourhoods cultivating friendships and community and fellowship? I’m never handing out candy in this neighbourhood. Keep your selfish kids at home, I have rent to pay… —Bah Humbug Halloween Grinch

They do the same where I live and I’m not in a ‘rich’ neighborhood. Get used to it.
What a cunt you are OB! CUNT!
Fart noise. Some neighbourhoods just suck for trick or treating/are dangerous. Like the one directly adjacent to yours!
Gets razor-blade apple while Trick-or-Treating in hydrostone

Refuses to co-operate with the 5-0
hey grinchy, haven’t you ever gone to a more affuent area to get your treats when you were a kid. i know myself and a zillion others that have. we used to go to the belmont on the arm. nice houses begat nicer treats, and as such, are a target for anyone.
when i had my own house, i gave out to anyone that showed up, even some older than sposed to bes. fuck sakes, it was hallowe’en.
send some of those hundreds of kiddies out to my place. i had hardly any, and i have no will power, so i am going to eat every one of those 240 mini chocolate bars. i didn’t even get any teenagers this year. how’re they going to maintain their zit farms without choclate?
apart from that, some of those parents sound like morons. if a little kid wants to go home, it’s time to go home.
WTF? The hydrostone is a rich neighbourhod? Novalea is still Gottingen Street under another name!
Anyway, it is not that the treats are better quality, the parents can park and the children can go from one postage stamp yard to the next…… being duplexes …. two doors for the price of one …… why again did you move there?
Haven’t you been paying attention? The Hydrostone Business Association went out of its way to get itself amputated from “the north end”. It’s rich now, baby. Gate with PIN Code is going up next summer.
can i come to get some treats too gdm? i’ll be good, i promise.
we had about 50 kids, some come from outside of the neighbourhood because it’s a nice street and safe. we had a couple of grocery cart pushers but i don’t much care
missed being able to decorate the house this year because of the storm. i usually make it a blair witch place. and i dress up.
(waiting for it.. c’mon tj, you know you wanna.)
Well, all I can say is I hope they don’t come to my old neighborhood, Marlborough Woods. And that goes for the OP and her kid as well.
The Hydrostone a “rich area”? You must be joking.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
“Marlborough Woods”??? – Lolz, more like “The Village”.
OB – Nothing new, always been happening.
Now all I have to do is get rid of 40 bags of chips and 100 mini-chocolate bars.
There are tons of kids in my neighbourhood on Brunswick but not one comes to our house even though we’re kind and have obvious Halloween decorations-They’re all heading out to other areas. Our family likes Trick-or-Treating here, seeing old and new neighbours. It’s fun but often we’re the only ones out of maybe five other families who show up. The plus side of that is HUGE amounts of candy from those houses, but the downside is no roaming groups of costumed kids. When I lived in Mile End in Montreal, we had kids drive to the neighbourhood-It was a madhouse and kids were sometimes reaching right into the bowls. No small talk with neighbours though. Sad, really. Just a grab and run.
come in agent 195 and big d, two of my favourite people and i missed you. you look great in the picture
Rawk! 🙂
It’s for the kids OP, whether from your neighborhood or not.
Nice post Nukka, I’m not sure what it’s more, profane or incoherent.
LOL the Hydrostone is a rich neighbourhood? Who told you that? Your realtor? It’s not… which is why you saw a bunch of “trash” in “your” hood… because that’s their neighbourhood too.
If someone’s gonna drive their runts to a nice neighbourhood for Halloween in Halifax, it’s gonna be Young Avenue, sorry OP.
Well if you live in an affluent neighbourhood (??) don’t be so friggen cheap. Buy some treats for the kids. We used to do the same thing when we were kids. People today are just way to friggen mean and cheap. Who cares how old the kids are coming for treats. I think we were in our teens when we finally stopped. It’s kids night! For old and young kids! I’d still go today if I could find someone to go with!!! Love me some treats!!
woggie, if i come to your house, will you give me a treat, i can sure give you one.
I’m not totally convinced that Nukka-Head is, in fact, a Godzillalter-ego. But if he is, it might explian these flyers up in Cowpie Hill:

I grew up in the north end and this isnt a new thing. In the 80s the north end wasnt considered affluent or “the place to be”. But it was a quick way to trick o’ treat. It still is. That’s all it is about.
