Actually, a hipster would tell you in the smuggest way possible that they listened to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs before they were famous, or that their musical tastes are too eclectic to describe.
After all, it’s so hard to label a band that plays alt-funk-orchestral-psychedelic-groovemotron-pop quartet, whose band comprises entirely of a xylophone, a kazoo, a snare drum and a kid doing beat-box. Wait… I think I just described Zappa’s last album.
Edit: I just took a look at Pitchfork (the definitive resource for all hipster music) and they’ve got a massive listing for the band… by the sounds the reviews, they’d fuck the lead singer if they had a chance. Ironically, of course. So yeah… They fit the hipster label.
