Jackie Barkhouse defeating Bill Karsten was one of the only bright spots in an increasingly bleak political landscape. I’m thrilled that Waye Mason ousted Sue Uteck, but was elated by the idea of Karsten no longer having a place on council. It is no stretch of the imagination that he would have fully supported Woodside being removed from the district name. Makes one wonder what other strings are available to be pulled by someone who has had access to all the back-room deals in HRM under Peter Kelly. Same old story. Same old boys club. —Love My City But Can’t Stand the Political Scene

I thought Karsten won by 68 and now Barkhouse is putting in a recount appeal, I’m with you on the Waye Mason part though.
It was “Democracy at Work” when Barkhouse was the winner.
Now that Karsten has won, it’s the “Sinister Machinations of a Cabal of White Men In Suits”
Is it any wonder people are cynical about those who claim to be cynical about politics. >: )
Apparently 1 table at a polling station was counted twice, this gave Barkhouse the win by six votes. After Karsten challenged it (anyone would with a small margin like that), that double count was noted and Karsten is now the winner by 68 votes (not a recount mind you). So Barkhouse is perfectly withing her right to ask for an official recount because you never know what may have happened at the other tables.
I just found it funny (in a sad way) that 75% of council was re-elected from the last bunch, a group that so many people complained about… I suppose this is what you get when only 37% vote.
As crappy as the results were, I was ecstatic to see Sloane losing and not even the runner-up! Third!
politricks are a strange fucking animal,o.p., and as such, if you aren’t crooked going in, you will be after awhile.
OP, you’re a sexist pig – bahawhawhaw.
Let’s hope that next election people actually make a better effort to vote. They complain that nothing changes but is 1/2 of the 63 percent votes, big changes could happen.
It evens out; Dipper loses and another Dipper wins.
The game never changes, just the players.
Waye Mason belongs to the new old boys club. Nothing has changed. Secrets will be kept.
The new old boys club – who spew mistruths, hoping no one will actually do research and find facts instead of talking off the cuff about somethinhg they know nothing of – Yep that’s the Waye I know and love
