I get it that kids want to be little punk asses, but why the hell do they have to keep smashing bus shelters?
I know Metro Transit does their best to clean up all the glass but it is still all over the place! Try walking your dog around a bush shelter that has been previously smashed! I fear one day they are going to get hurt and then who is going to pay my vet bills???
I think if we catch one of those punk ass kids smashing shelters we should make them walk all over the glass without any shoes! —Pissed At Our Youth!

i really think transit should get rid of them all, or make them all metal. the old rock ones were decent,how about making them out of recycled cinder blocks.
Aside from the fact that building a bus shelter you couldn’t see through would be a safety hazard (if you were jumped by someone lurking there no one would see you in trouble), I fully support the idea of finding some different material to make transit shelters from. How about some crazy strong plastic made from recycled pop bottles?
they tried a few plexi-glass ones before and the little twerps just burned them instead. no matter what they do, some little bastard will come up with a more clever way of destroying it.
It sucks when the glass in the shelters are broken, and I have talked to someone that goes around replacing the glass. It is actually safety glass, and when broken does not leave sharp edges like regular glass.

In Colby village in Cole Harbour, I know they have a couple bus shelters made from stone with metal slits in them to see out… I’m not sure if those are still there but they are the only ones like that I’ve seen! I don’t think there’s much you can do to those other than piss on them.
Yeah, there’s a few stone ones up in Rockingham and Fairview. From what I understand, they’re crazy expensive. And no matter how clean they are, they smell like piss. Another problem with plexiglass is that when it breaks, it breaks off in huge, very sharp chunks. Given that the shelters are built to ensure that if a vehicle were to crash into it the shelter doesn’t do anything to the driver/occupants, that would be counter productive.
Worst part is that the vandals break them during the summer months, while they’re bored and when you get the wettest weather.
melectric and Dr. Fever, I think those are the really old-school ones from the 70s or so. Plexi-glass is way better but do seem to get vandalized a lot more.
