Petroleum has ruined the planet. Look at the poison that clogs our world and look at what most of the poison is based on- petroleum. Smog pollutes our air, plastic bags kill animals and clog trees, plastic waste is broken down by ocean currents into smaller pieces which are ingested by fish….the fish starve because they have nothing in their stomachs but plastic, oil spews into the gulf, valuable wetlands and wildlife are at risk. What for? Just so that we can drive around in metal boxes on highways that are made of asphalt that is made from the lowest grade of petroleum…..of course this lovely black tar increases the temperature of the planet. I say fuck petroleum, fuck cars and fuck anybody that challenges this argument….the world is dying because of petroleum….wake-up to it. —Petroleum stinks.

  1. We all agree that humans make a mess. Shitting, fucking, producing more of the same. Ad nauseum.

What I’m sick of politely dancing around is this. The heavy foisters, the malcreants that promulgate this horseshit are the best positioned to profit from it.
    Not you, just your handlers.

On first blush with the IPCC’s criminalities, red-flags should be popping up everywhere. I can’t be bothered to paste in previous global warming comments.

You’ve swallowed the lesson. Hook, line, and sinker.

  2. shit stinks too, but that also is an nessisary evil that we must live with. even a tiny fart, in a closed space stinks too, but if you didn’t do it, your eyeballs will pop out like fucking homer simpson.

  3. I’ll gladly give up everything that petroleum products as soon as there’s a viable alternative. I know that’s a narrow view, but it’s just as narrow as the platitudes you’ve spewed out.

Petroleum products are pervasive throughout our lives… No surprise, even the computer you wrote this bitch on is probably 80% petroleum products (in the plastics, from the motherboard all the way to the LCD) and probably another (shock) 10% heavy metals! Just think! On your lap right now, you’re being exposed to lead and mercury.

Think before you speak next time…

Oh, and you know, all those environmentalist/anti-capitalism leaders in South America that you love and revere? Like Chavez and what’s-his-nuts from Bolivia? They’re producing petrochemicals like mad.

  4. Things must be boring at the EAC. OB if you hate petroleum so much then don’t buy, use, consume, or wear it or its derivatives, if you can. I myself enjoy being warm, hit the open road and many other things.

  5. yea OP smoke another fatty than jump on your bicycle and pedal off to whatever freak world you’re living in

  6. That’s a no-no martym! A bicycle would contain petroleum products. Vulcanized rubber in the tires! The seat is probably PVC too. Grease for the chain…

  7. we will never stop using oil nor should we.if anyone actually believes this bitch is attainable is ignorant to how important oil is in our lives.from foods,to medication, paints, plastics, etc.it is everywhyere.

people are surviving because of petroleum retard.

this position is about as thought out as chris benjamins articles.fuck some of these so called environmentalist are dumb.

  8. sorry ride your solar powered recycled bong water free range tye-dyed earthmobile right into a lush old growth forest in a make believe land far far away 🙂

  9. Not dumb, sixxes, just ignorant. Anyone who doesn’t believe this world is going to hell in a hand basket is also ignorant, but like you said, the consumption of petroleum products isn’t going to stop anytime soon, and to blame everybody else for the world’s woes is hypocritical.

  10. slayer kicks ass.seen them twice once in quebec and once in halifax.

the world has always been going to hell in a handbasket, according to doomsayers. i do not believe the world now is any different then from the world of the past, or the way the world will be in the future.

  11. Screw you and your “save the planet” oh boo boo. I don’t give a fuck. I recycle sometimes, but don’t go out of my way for it. I fill up my suv and don’t care about what it’s doing to the Earth. Will I be around when the shit hits the fan for Mother Green Earth…noooo….so seriously why give a fuck. If Global warming allows me to enjoy nicer, longer summers, and less snow in winter, bring it on baby.

  12. OP I highly recommend you see the documentary Manufactured Landscapes. It shows how we’re changing the world through industrialization and manufacturing. But it also shows how people in China are recycling the tiniest bits of computers and phones and how people in Bangladesh rip apart giant container ships bit by bit to reuse pieces. However, the part I liked best about the documentary was that the guy who was doing said he really didn’t reserve judgment about the environment. He could side one way or the other, but he chose just to look at it, and look how our landscape is changing. But he felt connected, because he understood how every bit of our existence is affected by oil, coal, water etc. We can’t undo many of the changes that we have made to our earth, and we also can’t expect other countries to jump on board. I guess my point is, do what you have to do to rely less on petroleum, but at the end of the day, it’s out there and we’d have to go back to caveman days to avoid it.

  13. We should stop using petroleum products, sixxes. But not until there are viable alternatives. I mean, our largest consumption are vehicles, generally speaking, and there is some very promising hydrogen fuel cell technology that is coming out. I’d say we’ll have a working hydrogen fuel cell car(s) on the road in less than 10 years. Hell, GE of all companies has developed the worlds first commercial energy gathering solar power shingles.

We can cut our consumption, but to blindly say that we should get rid of it is insane.

  14. fever we may be in agreement here.we must record this date.however there is one condition.that condition is that we replace oil and not simply substitute it. ex corn ethonol

  15. well i’m living on an island infested with hippies and earth people types so i’m having a bit of a field day material wise; it’s like shoot’n fish in a barrel and they’re so frick’n gullable and naive 🙂

  16. I understand, sixxes. The ethanol is a good idea, but the problem with ethanol is that it take too much energy to produce (in essence, it’s a negative transaction). Hydrogen is the way to go, and with some of the upcoming technologies, it will be. In fact, most economists and planners are now referring to what is called the “Hydrogen Economy”, which means whoever is on board first turns into what would be a modern day Saudi Arabia/UAE/Qatar.

Problem is, it looks like Europe is about 10 years ahead of us in that respect.

  17. they’re ahead but hitting roadblocks with everyone who has an interest in petrol. the technology is there – it’s the infrastructure that’s killing them. How do you fuel up? who will build the infrastructure? where will that development $ come from – to make it main stream (from households to fueling stations for cars to the level needed for manufacturing). I’d love to see it in my lifetime, I think it’s an amazing technology.

  18. actually there’s a world class Canadian Hydrogen fuel cell company called Ballard Power Systems (lost alot of money on their stock) but they do have some innovations that could go far; like you said it’s infrastructure that’s killing them and burning cash flow

  19. Holy fuck, at least in the pre-internet days it was a hell of a lot easier to avoid the ideas spewed by world savers….

  20. I love the fact that the original post was typed up on a petroleum based plastic computer.

  21. ralmn— you’re right. They’ve got some tremendous roadblocks ahead of them, especially considering the influx of cheap oil from Russia. Shell, BP and Exxon have no interest in creating it obviously, but it’s coming. Oil prices and dwindling supply from countries that will give oil freely will force them to build said infrastructure. It’s a long process, but we’ll get there.

  22. What I goota love is that everyone is down on oil and that they are greedy. Now, if they were truly greedy, don’t you think they would perfect hydrogen and sell it at their stations, thereby doubling their profits?

  23. BRING BACK THE ZEPPELIN! (Graf, not Led) Oh, all right both. Jeez you people.

  24. BT— you’d think that, wouldn’t you? Problem is, oil companies are trillions of dollars deep in infrastructure to produce oil… They’re only concerned about oil profits going up, not foundering nascent technologies.

Also, why bother creating infrastructure when the government will willingly do it, and once the basics are in place, then roll in and take it over.

  25. Anyone see that episode of “Aftermath” on History or Discovery or one of those doc-type channels about what would happen if oil just disappeared tomorrow? Like, what would happen if we just ran out of oil just like that? In their estimation, it would take 10 years at least before things would start rolling again. In the meantime, people starve, people die (from lack of heat, lack of medicines getting to them, lack of access to hospitals, etc…) and life pretty much sucks.

The show also exposed the problems with being able to produce an alternative to oil on a large scale, and how it’d take about a decade to come up with anything CLOSE to being viable.

So….Fever’s right in his first post — come up with something viable NOW or forget it. We’re too dependent and things would suck WAY too much in any “adjustment” period (although, in the end it *did* pay off and the world, at the end of the 10 years was a much MUCH MUCCCCCH cleaner place).

In 150 years, we’ve completely become dependent on a non-renewable source of energy. Sure there are likely viable alternatives, but, heh “it is what it is,” and I like eating and I like having access to medication that keeps me alive, and I like living in a centrally heated dwelling and I like things not sucking.
