- BULL POWER
As a proud Taurean, I have to tell you that May is generally a good time for me even when nothing is really happening. I feel really powerful, my stars are all aligned and whatnot, and people are almost suspiciously nice to me.This year’s May-time holds particular promise, however. A couple weeks ago we got the Obey line-up, which has met a series of resounding and continual “Fuck yeahs!” in the ensuing weeks. And yesterday we found out about Long Live the Queen. It’s a weekend-long music and arts fest running from May 21-23, curated by local musicians/go-getters Rebekah Higgs and Nathan Doucet. Although no venues have been confirmed, the website implies that all events will be comfortably rooted in the north end of Halifax. The line-up page hints at the presence of a shitload of your favorite bands (and a few personalities), local and non (and includes one of my favorite Canadian musicians, period—-Laura Barrett.) Plus there’s an art fair on Saturday! Plus it’s the May long weekend, aka the weekend of 40, 000 beers. Truly an embarrassment of riches!
