After all these months, I’m free. I can’t believe how good it feels. Being laid off a year ago was bad enough, but going back to work for you turned out to be worse. I forgot how much of an idiot you were.
I can’t believe you got so upset when I quit today. What did you expect? Did you really think I was gonna languish in wage slavery under you forever?
Predictably, you claimed that all you did all year long was help me out. That’s rich! If that’s what you define as help, remind me never to be in a life or death situation while you’re around. Ask anyone who works for you what they REALLY think of you. If they have the balls to be honest, they’ll tell you that they do the heavy lifting on the front end while you’re usually unreachable. You blame others when your shortcomings ultimately lead to problems back at the store counter.</p?
Anyway, you’ll be the last thing on my mind from now on. New job has come through….oh yeah, with benefits, vaykay time, a livable wage and the basic respect an employer must extend to it’s workers in order to get the results anticipated.

I hear ya. Way to go.
It’s the greatest feeling in the world to have a former boss eat your skid marks and then choke on the undigested bits. (Fist raised in support, boyo)
it’s clique but so true the shittier the job the less pay the nore assholiness the boss is the more their all shocked when you say bye; it’s truly mindblowing:)
from all that, i conclude this person must have just gotten a real plum job, at a call center. don’t cut your past yet,new employer might b a worse asshole than other one, and you might have to suck ass big time, to go back there again. remember, the net has a way of really coming back to bite you. think ahead, maybe this new person to hire you, readsa this bitch board.you just never know who is really here. i could be that person that just hired your ass.
You took the words right out of my mouth, martym! The less they pay you the more they expect and the more they figure you owe them. It’s ridiculous.
I’m dealing with an arrogant ex-employer and things are going to get worse for them. I questioned why we were under provincial labour laws when our duties also included occasional extra-provincial travel, so now the federal labour board is looking into it.
If we should have been under the fed rules then the ex-exployer is on the hook for a lot of overtime (anything over 8 straight hrs/day) and possibly a bit extra in holiday pay. As soon as my cheque gets written I’ll be sending a letter advising my ex-colleagues to file their own payroll complaints.
This dispute has cost me too much of my time and money and it’s only fair that the company finds themselves on the hook for ten of thousands of dollars once back-dated overtime get calculated 🙂
Don’t forget Stat holidays. Quite a few more than the 5 paid in N.S. (Which is gonna be the start of another bitch).
Fact is, labour in this province is mistreated and underpaid on a large scale.
yep.
don’t know about you but I work pretty much every holiday (christmas included) and only get a single day off some other time for it. where’s this double time or double and a half I keep hearing about?
zZz.. I’ve been trying to decipher your identity for weeks at this point..
likely because you sit a few rows away….
jonnoman and I have been wondering about you too.
You seem to be busier than we are though….
so I’ve ruled out management.
Oohhh a mystery… love mystery?
I sit at home in my mom’s basement. Sad. Alone. Crying. Masturbating.
And yeah, shitty low-paying jobs are shit! Bunch of miserable asswipes in there, mainly.
not sure if you’ll refer back to this… but neville,
does ‘the fishbowl’ mean anything to you?
@OP i hear your pain, weve all worked shit ass jobs for even shittier money and been expected to work our fingers to the bone. which is the main reason i avoided fast food jobs as a teenager.
@VoiceofReason as far as your OT goes i have no idea how much overtime you are working of course, but i do believe that by NS labour standards your employer can force you to work up to 8 hours of overtime per week…and legally it can be paid out at straight time. so sadly, your check might be a bit smaller than anticipated. our labour laws in NS really do suck.
now please, no one reply to say that their employer pays overtime on anything over 40hrs a week as i know this…my employer does.
John – NS labour standards cover overtime issues for employers/employees working under provincial jurisdiction, however many industries, including most transportation operations, that operate between provinces fall under federal labour laws. They are required to pay OT after 8 consecutive working hours per day.
I ran into the ex-employer yesterday while he attended a meeting in Halifax and he is not a happy camper. Guess he must of figured out that 30 employees might be entitled to lots of back pay OT for the last 5 to 7 years. I feel bad for him !
At least I’m playing by the rules, can’t say the same for mr. cheapo employer.
