Poor Johnny Weir. First he gets robbed of a medal, and now he has to hold a press conference to publicly confirm that yes, he is a man. And he was totally classy about the entire deal.

The Quebec council of gays and lesbians filed a complaint with the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council over the homophobic remarks made by French Canadian announcers Claude Mailhot and Alain Goldberg, who suggested Weir was a poor example for other skaters and should undergo gender testing. Weir offered to sit down for a meal of poutine to talk it out: “”I think we’d all be, like, lovely people together, I think they’d see who I really am,” he says.

Blame this stupidity on sporting culture machismo all you want, but this week Lady Gaga—who Weir famously skates to—posed with a strap-on for British mag Q, poking at rumours that the singer is actually a hermaphrodite.

Thought it was 2010. Maybe someone’s been playing around with the hot tub time machine.
