I’m a young gay dude, and I live on Gottingen Street. I have lived here for almost two years, and regardless of the reputation of this neighbourhood…I have rep’d the area as safe and totally FUCKING awesome since I have lived here because I have never personally had a problem or felt unsafe. But now I’m very pissed off because a friend of mine got beat up not too long ago, and a regular at the bar I work at got killed down the street…and people are getting shot to death all around me…and right now I don’t even want to walk down to a bar alone to watch 5 Minutes of Fame because I’m scared I’m going to get beat up. What the fuck makes people think they should beat the hell out of someone for no reason, or shoot someone to death? sorry the north end isn’t gentrified enough for you yet. sure, no one should feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood, but you chose the most unsafe neighbourhood on the peninsula because it was, what, trendy? i don’t even know why, and you’re surprised there’s still violence there just because some condos went up.
