To the skateboarding a-hole travelling the wrong way down a one-way street in downtown Halifax on Saturday, May 19: It’s not all about you! We were not laughing at you as we drove by. We were sharing a joke and generally having a great time enroute to the market. I happened to glance in your direction while laughing at a shared joked, which prompted you to yell, “Fuck you!” belligerently into my open window as you wheeled on by. Up until that moment, I was thinking you had beautiful, thick hair, but your negativity/anger suddenly made you very ugly. Get over yourself. You give skateboarders a bad name and seriously need to chill and think more positive thoughts. Do us all a favour and try yoga or meditation. —Shelley

  1. The little spacker probably thinks swearing at car-driving 1 percenters is de rigeur to establish his counter-culture street cred. Don’t take it personally, OP. Every social revolution has it’s “collateral damage”

  2. Ha! I saw the same thing almost this weekend, except there was a pack of about 5 young men on skateboards this time. And yep, going the wrong way down a one-way street. Maybe they’re trying to start up a “Critical Mass” type thing.

  3. Seeing as the skate board was only going one way… I fail to see the problem.

I mean its not like they are held to the same rules of the road as a motorvehicle operator. How often do you see cars driving on & off, now back on the sidewalk ? Not obeying road signs & lights. driving through crosswalks ? Rollerblades, skaters, bikes, they pretty much do what they want & then bitch about all the assholes in cages endangering them on the roads.

  4. my dear shelly, why do you waste your time on here? complining and even trying to justify why you were laughing. we don’t really give a rat’s ass either way.
fine that you thought they hadnice hair, but why even bother to post such a mundane little bitch as this. the world didn’t end for you, and i don’t think other people were bothered or even concerned by them. see where i’m going with this?

  5. “You give skateboarders a bad name” – sorry, space already taken by cyclists. I was going to use occupied instead of taken, but my oh my the connotations!

  6. Yeah, that was pretty rude. He has an inferiority complex so you were naturally laughing at him. At least it wasn’t a girl ’cause skateboarding is for boys.
