i don’t remember shoveling, it really was a non-winter
the only snow around here o.p., is the snowjob, that we are getting, every fucking year. more expensive for bullshit these days, no.
I’m not a fan of the winter road managment in hrm lately ; but
you realize that they use the same resources for salt spreading, and it happens whether there is one inch or one foot of snow?
And the budget is a fiscal thing ; not a calendar year So part of the 2011 budget covered the end of winter 2010
there is also things like salt and sand. They buy a static amount, whether they use it or not it still has to be purchased. You think they can just go to home depot and buy what they need as the snow starts?
and there were more snow than just 3 times as well…
I remember because it was a broken record of ‘we can’t do any better… it’s because of the weather’ bullshit… that and the agonizing 90 minute bus rides.
all that bogus freezing rain is what pushed the $ down the toilet.
Brandon beat me to it.
You’re acting like they predicted the flush.
I tend to agree with Zed, it’s the freezing rain that’s the killer on the budget.
That’s some expensive fuckin’ salt! OP your prolly right, all the snow is up their noses!
Hey! Back the hell off! Salt water ain’t cheap, ya know. It’s not like you can just find that shit anywhere!
Oh, and what Brandon and Umma said.
yes avast…
that’s the plan for winter 2012.
they’re going to pump harbour water up to the top of the streets and let it run back down… wouldn’t that be lovely.
YAK
I have seen plows in my area plowing the street for no reason .I mean they were plowing the stuff on the side of the road that was literally on the curb.I was out for a walk on several ocoassions and seen this and Im thinking why the fuck are you guys wasting the snow clearing budget .This is was after it rained and melted most of it.They also were plowing the streets near my house the next day after it rained and there was a small amount of slush on the street ,hardly worth getting the three trucks out for and of cousre this was at night when they probably were raking in the overtime .They say they spend the budget on street repairs aswell ,but its probably spent on the guys contracted to do this racking up overtime for no reason.Just another example of HRM lack of management and wastefullness of taxpayer dollars.
Slush freezes, yo, and makes a huge mess
I remember when I used to look forward to snow. Now at the tender age of 43….I fear snow. I need to adopt a few kids for some slave labour snow removal.
