Enough is enough. After hearing what the execs rake in, then their unmitigated gaul to increase power rates: WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? What the fuck will it take for Nova Scotians to make their true feelings known about such fuckery? —Fed Up Of Overpaid Executives

  1. I could not agree more, OP!!! Who the hell is worth that kind of money? Nobody on this planet!

  2. I don’t mind executives making oodles of money – in an environment where their product is clearly superior and they have customers streaming to them in droves.
    Then it’s been earned.

Here, NSP has the shortcut route as the option presented to them BY THE PEOPLE… 9.5% by law.

Strip the grid from NSP and let every energy producer in this province sell directly to the consumer. That is the only way to drive these fuckers back to the real world. Where they have to earn their millions, not extort it from the helpless thousands through government sponsored monpolies.

  3. What burns my buns is how these rich cocksuckers can hit people on a fixed income again and again and again.

  4. I wonder how NSP plans on protecting all those shiny new windows down at their shiny new fiefdom observation post, I mean office tower…

  5. And while we’re at it, I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation as to why renewable wind, water and sun can cost more “produce” than oil and coal?!?!?! WTF!!!

  6. That’s great Avast, I signed it a few hours ago and it was at 6,000… Now it’s over 8,000. People are pissed! Finally, fuck…

  7. um, outrage is everywhere…
but they are government run and have a monopoly.
    We’re literally at their mercy.

You also wonder where the outrage is with no option for recourse…
what to do? call someone who won’t care?
write a letter to a figure no-one will bother to read?
ie, what are you planning on doing about it that perhaps people could get on board with???
’cause trust me… you don’t want to get on board with a plan for redemption I’ll come up with.
(and I swear, if you’re great idea for a revolution is to start a facebook group or stupid online petition… you may as well stick your head in the sand… you lazy bitch)

  8. Thanks Vastie. I signed it while listening to the theme from “Patton”. Now I intend to drink some beer in protest. God I love being engaged in”the process”

  9. ok, I guess we’ve already had one lazy bitch start the petition…
which means nothing and will do no good.
but hey, if you have one case where an online petition actually DID anything…
feel free to snub me here.

  10. Angry, the last one in recent memory was the petition, twitter hoopla over Canada’s internet bill. It does happen from time to time, more so now with the “interconnectedness”. It has been a long time since anyone in our province has been connected to anything other than shady backroom deals, however…

  11. What I don’t understand is they say they have to make up for the lost revenue from the paper mills closing. But, if it’s closed, then they aren’t using any more power, hence NSPI has no need to produce said power anymore, and if they aren’t producing said power, then it shouldn’t be costing them ANYTHING! It’s all a big load of fucking bullshit! Their spin doctors are working overtime on this shit, I swear.
And I’m sorry, but if this paper mill states that one of the main reasons it was closing to begin with was because it couldn’t afford to pay it’s power bill anymore, than you’d think that would be a huge fucking clue for the province to step in and do something, but no. Dexter is mixed up in the whole fucking mess, too.
If they can afford $100,000 pay raises and are reporting record quarterly profits, they have NO RIGHT asking us for more. Fuck them, the URB AND the provincial gov’t! They can all go to hell!

  12. According to their press release there are fixed costs involved with NewPage or something. *shrug* “Troubles in the pulp and paper industry, which have greatly reduced payments by NewPage and Bowater to the fixed costs of the Nova Scotia’s electricity system” http://secure.campaigner.com/Campaigner/Pu…

  13. Yes, here we go again. The ‘no way they can lose’ legalized crooks are sliding it to us once again, and robbing us blind. Nice for them that it has been pretty well a legislated gift for them. Halifax skaters think of that as you waltz gracefully around ‘their’ Oval this upcoming winter. Paid for by us in many ways, via taxes to the city and through our electric bills too. At least you may be warm when skating, whereas many may not be if they can not afford their electric bill to pay these SOBs.

  14. next to the p.m., emera is the second biggest dictator around, lately. then we have facebook. yep, i said it, didn’t i.

  15. The decision to privatize a public utility years ago was not a smart one. N.S. Power is run by Emera not to serve Nova Scotians but to turn a profit for their shareholders and with no competition well they can pretty much do as they like.

  16. In 1992 Premier Cameron signed NSP into Private hands with a guaranteed return of 9% in perpetuity, in 1992 a 9% return wasn’t unusual, today it’s a rate most can only dream of. I don’t begrudge the President of Emera 1 red cent of his stipend, he was hired to make a profit by the shareholders, if he fails to make that profit, he’s fired, in other words he’s doing his job.
The UARB will rubber stamp this increase, Dexter, like previous Liberal and Conservative Premiers since 1992, will get on his hind legs and bleat and posture, the increase will go forward and we, the taxpayers,
    will get arse fucked.
Let’s not forget part of the increase is to cover the sweetheart deal given to 2 failing/bust Pulp and Paper mills, Bowater and New Page – Bowater, coincidentally, happens to be close to Dexters hometown.

  17. NSP lives on a fixed income as well (9.25 to be exact, guaranteed!) In the real world, when business lose customers and money they begin by making internal cuts, layoffs, plant closures, etc…not giving execs 20% raises…that’s fucking ludicrous. Fear not as true Nova Scotian’s we will just bitch and moan and then bend over once again and spread our cheeks a little farther and get the ass reaming we so justly deserve for not marching on their offices in the thousands. It’s time folks…time to take this province back! Politicians won’t do it!
