Really? I still need to haul around a bunch of change to pay for parking in HRM, and what’s with no credit cards at the bridges and toll highway? For a city/province that sells itself as being technology and forward thinking, there is so much backwards thinking it isn’t funny. Get with the times already. Pay by phone parking is available in almost every city now. Oh wait, I know why. It’s because HRM views fines as a revenue stream and not a deterrent! —Shrapnel Free

Good point on the parking meter.
I am not sure if you’re aware of this nifty little piece of tech available for the bridges and the 104 toll plaza; it’s called a transponder a.k.a MacPass which you can link to your credit card. You affix the transponder to your windshield, usually on the inside inline with the rear view mirror. As you approach the gate at a toll plaza, the sensor detects the signal from the RFID chip inside the transponder, verifies the account is valid and active, opens the gate and then debits your account which you have previously linked to your credit card, all within seconds! And you didn’t have to do a thing!
Have a great day!
MacPass solves the toll issue. Indoor parking allows payment by credit. Change occurs slowly. In the meantime, use your problem solving skills.

Ahahaha, reminds me of trying to find parking downtown when I had jury duty, Picked the wrong day to find out parking lots don’t take Interac cards (Why?) And the Macpass is great but they have to be replenished with set amounts of money preauthorized, Tapping my visa and going seems a lot quicker and less hassle, Carrying change sucks, Last thing I want when walking in the dark though a seedy area is the sound of change jingling in my pocket..
The macpass does not work for parking lots. They really dropped the ball on that one.
don’t all cities view tickets and fines as a revenue stream?
