God, you backyard breeders piss me off. $650 for a mutt? Are you kidding me?! Do you know how many dogs there are out there in shelters that need a home? Now you’re trying to add to the ever growing population to make a quick buck? You disgust me. Do the responsible thing and get your dogs neutered, you greedy asshats!
And you idiots who actually buy the damn dogs are no better. Strutting around like you have some kind of status symbol at the end of your leash. Your “yorkiepoo” (barf!) is no better than my shaggy old mutt. —Get Your Head Out of Your Ass, Idjit

I never understood this either…
what are you gaining out of spending nearly a grand to get a dog?
I tell ya, you’d have to be one picky son of a bitch…
I paid 50 bucks for my lab. I just put her down at the age of thirteen years old. Best dog ever!!! Also the best 50 bucks I ever spent.
I was also shocked to see the prices of dogs, designer or not.
These women are so obnoxious. 90% of them are chunky hipsters with tiny dogs and the effect of seeing the two together is ridiculous. And furthermore, any idiot who puts her yorkiepoo in a pink sweater should be on a leash.
Our dog is a rescue from the metro SPCA. Without a doubt, she’s THE best dog I’ve ever had the pleasure of having.
I know this sounds silly and I’m sure it’s just my imagination but the dog almost seems grateful, (more appreciative?), because we adopted her from the shelter. We’re extremely blessed.
Mutts are smarter. Most of these designer dogs are inbred to give them their distinct features. Mutts are products of natural and sexual selection and as such are automatically more likely to have better brains, longer lives and better temperament.
I tell you.. when i finally get a dog.. i’m going to the SPCA and getting the ugliest, derpiest looking, weirdest dog they have. Those are the ones that never get chosen.. and they often make the best friends because they want it so much.
When I picked my mutt thats what I did eats_crayons! I picked the weirdest, smallest, most loniery puppy I could find and said that my dog 🙂
When you combine a poodle with a cocker spaniel you don’t get a cockapoo, you get a MUTT !
Same goes for those Shorkies (shihtzu + Yorkies) it a damn mutt & sure as hell isn’t worth no 4-500 bucks…what I fnd very humorous is when they advertise the dog is a 3/4 husky or lab etc…3/4’s L O L
What I do find interesting is they are popular…so there is obviously a bunch of people who don’t know any better or just like over paying !
eats_crayons…I had a border collie…very smart dog. THeir breed is known for its intelligence. But they need space…lots & lots of space
bt o.p., those same mutts will cost about the same at some pet shops. trust me when i tell you this. there really is no complete control over who sells them, or what is sold, and asked for. if you don’t like the price, you don’t buy them, simple hey.
but too many puppy mills are going in this fucking province, and i for one, would love to see them all shut down, and people running them, in jail or tied to a chain in a backyard in all kinds of fucking weather. without any place to get out of elements, or decent food and drink.
i have woorked with the s.p.c.a. in bridgewater, and let me tell you, i and my group siezed quite a few animals, dogs, cats, horses, goats, rats, you fucking name it.most were on their last legs when we finally got to help them, and a lot had to be put down. that is the worst part about being an animal control person.
if it were up to me, no one would own or have an animal, if they can’t or won’t take proper care of it.goddamn, i wish they woulfd have a death sentence for some of these fucking bastards.
when someone wants to adopt a dog and they want it to match their furniture…ah no ✖✖✖. people need to choose a pet that suits their lifestyle and early training and socialization is crucial. sucks is angry and he should be, some people shouldn’t have a dust bunny as a pet grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
In my neck of the woods, a rescue dog can be 6-700 dollars to adopt! 99% of the local dogs are pit bulls (yes, I know, they’re great) so they ship dogs from down south (Dixie Dogs) where the shelters tend to be kill shelters (unlike here). There are other stipulations such as a house visit, visible fence, large yard, etc. that you need to have before you can adopt.
“WYNNIE”
Well, I don’t know about “backyard breeders” but I know why I got Wynnie (and Lilly) from a Canadian Kennel Club licenced breeder. She’s beautiful, that’s why. (But then, all whippets are.)
If you don’t believe me, click on my avatar. Go ahead, enlarge it. Wynnie says hello.
A pleasure as always.
Cheerio!
Hallo, Vinnie. Do Sydanya.

My wife and I adopted a cat from a vet/shelter.
$240.00 needled and neutered. She has the opportunity to shit and piss in the apartment at her convenience.
I make the cat use the litter box.
My cats are rescues too. Abandoned and their mamma died after they were born.
Didn’t pay once cent and they’re half ragamuffin, which means their disposition is amazing and they’re honestly the best set of cats I’ve ever known — just by pure disposition alone (and oscar could be a kitty model).
Cost about $500 for needles/neutering/spaying, but it was worth it. Two less stray kitties on the streets. And really, ragamuffins are so friendly, they’d get their asses kicked by some random animal and die slow horrible deaths.
Rescue animals = awesome.
I know shelter dogs or any shelter animal would be my first choice but some people are looking for specific traits in their dogs. Golden labs (are great with children), border collie (highly intelligent/ herding), poodles (hypoallergenic/intelligence) etc.
If one has the money and a specific need, some purebreds are the ticket but usually people just want a pet or companion and should go to the local shelter.
I agree with the suckster’s sentiment, if you are looking for a purebred, check out the breeder. There are too many puppy mills.
no trood, i think the true designer dogs, are the ones that they dye different colors and inbreed to infinity, and fucking near beyond. puppy mills are great places to get dogs or pups, if you don’t mind them dying a week or two after laying out a lot of cash.yes, shelter animals are always the best choice, why? because that is their final step in life. if no one adopts in a reasonable time, they get put down. i hate that word, but it is what happens, all too fucking often. if anyone has ever seen the video about our food and how animals are killed, they would never eat meat again. it is called earthlings, and one fucked up despicable video. but everything they say,and show you is true.
in closing, don’t pick the animal, let the animal pick you.you will have a better friend, and a more nicer time, raising it.animals know the difference, don’t think they don’t. i had a little bit of a yorkie yyears back, that hated men, and boots, and big trucks. when i went to look at him with my ex, lady told us he would never go near a man, i asked was that before or after, he jumped into my arms.not all men, just her husband it seems. he died in a house fire, in 1992, and i miss him every minute of every day. will i get another yorkie, nope. by the way, mm,yes, whippets and also greyhounds, are two of the most beautiful dogs on earth, and fiercly loyal too.
Good purebred dog breeders, through their love of the breed, do their best to prevent genetic disabilities in the pups they provide. Have a look into line-breeding and in-breeding. Though I don’t think that is the kind of breeder OB is complaining about, I just I thought I’d make a distinction between backyard kijiji breeders that make deals in parking lots and breeders that try to run a legit operation.
what cranky said, and don’t buy a dog from a wallymart parking lot
paris hilton wannabees, like GET A LIFE!
Well I bought a Newfoundland Dog… from a reputable dealer in Ontario. I had to wait almost 2 years to get him. He came with breeding rights, and four generations of medical checks from vet specialists in specific fields, eyes, hips, cardiology, lungs, ect from both of his parents, grandparents, great grand parents and great great grandparents from his father and mother. He also came with photos of all his parental relatives. He cost $2200.00. All of this is the reason he was relatively expensive. He also had a two year warranty if anything came up besides regular vaccines and check ups ( I pay for) However…good breeders and honest breeders – and they are out there – have even a pre-screening process for prospective owners of the dogs they breed and sell. They don’t want their dogs going to just anybody. It is very serious business with contracts ect. THOSE DOGS are worth their money. You pay for what you get if you know what you are looking for. But as far as a cock a poo or mongrel mutt dogs and people selling them for some outrageous amounts of money. It’s the person buying the dogs fault for promoting these breeders and keeping them in business. Many cross breed dogs make wonderful pets, are intelligent, and excellent animals to have as pets BUT for somebody to be breeding them and selling them at these outrageous prices, and people willing to pay it… i think that’s a little outrageous. If a person can’t afford or doesn’t want these exquisite pure breed lines, adopt, help an animal out who may not have been given a chance. He may turn out to be the best friend you have ever had.
