It will be “Twenty-ten” not “Two-ten”!!!!!!!!!! Ever since the century rolled-over people seem to have developed a problem with what to call a year…..for example- two-thousand-nine or twenty-oh-nine magically became two-oh-nine….yesterday I almost choked when someone said two-ten…..I know there are bigger things in the world to worry about….I know…..I just can’t let it go

  1. finally a bitch that if not thoroughly debated could effect life on earth as we know it;frankly i was going to comment but this is way beyond my scope and a panel of scholars should be convened; be afraid be very afraid!

  2. I think I am going to like “the tens.”

Twenty-ten, twenty-eleven, twenty-twelve . . . we haven’t been allowed to count with numbers as cool as this since we were 3 years old.

I am also looking forward to the “teens” part of this new decade.

  3. to the first “clever” dumbass that says to me when they walk away : see you next decade ; could you just slap your own self now and save me the bother

  4. I think including the ‘and’ is american and we in canada dropped it….
or at least that’s what I remember being told in school when we were learning how to formally write cheques.
twenty-ten it is. 3 syllables is quick and easy.
2K10 is just as good, though I try to avoid mentioning kay at all costs.
    she gets mentioned enough…..

And anyone who says two-ten is living WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY in the past.

  5. who gives a shit how you say it.it is gonna be another fucked up,tax gouged year.and we all get fucked over again.just think,365 more days of getting ripped off by government, lovely, just fucking lovely.

  6. and another year of getting our asses killed in afghan. 5 more just died; GET THE FUCK OUT OF THAT MESS OF A COUNTRY!

  7. Like ‘More’, I’m just going to call it “ten.”

Back in the 90s, it was “Ninety-eight” and “ninety-nine” etc. Makes sense to me.

  8. fuck if i had a kid in the forces i’d forbid him to go and if he insisted i’d get him in so much shit with his co they’d kick him out better than dead for a non cause that’s none of our business evil evil bullshit

But the letter G isn’t the tenth letter P-n-B !
So let’s go with ‘J’ spot then ~:)

  12. “”and another year of getting our asses killed in afghan. 5 more just died; GET THE FUCK OUT OF THAT MESS OF A COUNTRY!””

Agreed. And the shame of it all is that the soldiers don’t even die “fighting”…they step on a mine, or run over an IED detonated by the “old woman” sitting under a tree 50 yards away…

I can honestly say that since the insurgents are obviously seen laying the bombs/wires etc into the mud by the surrounding villagers, who do NOTHING – if the truck infront of me hit one, I would not hesitate to empty every clip of ammo available to me on the next 100 faces I saw that weren’t wearing my uniform.

And then i would reach over and take your clips and fire those as well. Women, children, old men…I don’t even care.

I guess I wouldn’t make a very good patsy, erm “soldier” for Canada…who don’t even go down in a blaze of fury…

  13. I agree that having our soldiers follow rules of engagement…with an enemy which follows no rules what -so-ever, seems pointless & possibly even stupid .
I do agree with us being in that Country.
1- The taliban government was actively promoting terrorist training for export to the world.
So global & Canadian Safety …IMO is a damn good reason to go to war.
2-Canada has an obligation as a member country in Nato ,our presence on the world stage in cooperation with other member Nations to jointly act on diplomacy & collective security, justifies us being there. Unlike the Iraq situation, which i believe we rightly stayed out of.
3-Canada’s global work in helping impoverished persons , is well known & there’s few people more impoverished than the Afghans.
One really shouldn’t expect our forces to be miracle workers & many of the people still actively working for the Taliban are people of Arabic extremist bent & along with a their muslim extremists want their terror training ground BACK !
The old mentality of going into a country & making safe fortified bases isn’t working there, but diversifying to having troops set up throughout villages etc, while more dangerous, is having a bigger impat & is making it harder for extremists to operate.
Backing down now IMO would be a real waste of the sacrifice of all the personel killed & wounded, from Nato countries.
We are doing good there, girls are not being regularly murdered for going to school everywhere any more, & with enough time we can do even more.

So by being there Canadian soldiers are helping Canadians at home & abroad.

    Have a happy & prosperous year 10 everyone ~;)

  14. “I guess I wouldn’t make a very good patsy, erm “soldier” for Canada…who don’t even go down in a blaze of fury…”

    Epic troll is epic.

    Nice try.

  15. i don’t believe half the shit the media reports taliban and al queda do its all reported in VERY non arab sympathatic media

  16. Well Martym go to the al jazeera news feeds. They certainly have a more ‘arab’ leaning than say Fox !

  17. yes their is a small voice in the media that hmm how do i put this not controlled by our elder bretheren

  18. Martym,

While it is essential to view all media “news” with an informed and critical eye, please do not make the mistake of dismissing ALL reported atrocities commited by the Taliban and Al-Qeda are mere propaganda.

The Taliban ARE guilty of perpetuating horrendous acts terror and oppression against the citizens of Afghanistan. They have been doing this for almost two decades now, and many, many people who have fled Afghanistan will attest to this.

Certain other “theocratic” regimes—some of whom claim to be our “allies”—are also quite definitely totalitarian states. In these places, people’s lives are restricted and controlled in ways that we in the West can barely imagine, and the ever-shifting arbitrary “laws” are enforced with merciless brutality.

Al-Qaeda is just one of many organized terror groups that DOES believe that they have a moral right to kill ANYONE who they deem in opposition to their goals and ambitions.

While I agree that there are many good reasons why Canada should exit Afghanistan, it is not because the threat posed by terrorist groups—to people in that region and in the West—is anything less than real.

I do not know what the solution is but I believe that Afganistan, and many of its neighbors, will be places of tyranny and tragedy for a long time yet.

Sigh. I really do hope this decade might see some change in this regard.

  19. RJ i don’t dismiss all claims of atrocities of any named groups in the region; and there’s so many factions you can’t keep track; that is part of my point; these people are tribal and of a waring nature;it’s not our responsibility to police who is doing what to who; we are getting involved in conflicts/feuds that have been going on before jesus was a cowboy and will be going on until the next foolish interlopers decide to save whoever is being oppressed at the time.

  20. the biggest bitch of this year will be that it is exactly the same as last year.completely fucked up.high taxes, more death in afghanistan, lying politicos.take your pick,it will be business as usual.and we can’t do shit about none of it.so why even bother to get in a lather and all fucked up too?because the government wants to keep our little minds off bgger issues, like more wars to send our kids off to die in,hidden taxes, phony speeches, and the like.but if we really nitpick,we can and will make a small difference.this afghan thing is way out of control, and only a nuke will fix it.as to terrorists coming here, hell, they already are here.just that we don’t see them.and the world will keep on turning if we keep our noses out of other countries politics, and wars.no war ever fought was good,or brought good things with it.look the fuck back in history.human kind is always spoiling for a battel, from the time we take our first breath,to the last.and what of those over there,do you think that they don’t mourn their dead?no,i support an army or force on our ground, fighting to keep us safe.but this war is on the other side of the world, and is only keeping the manufacturers of arms in business.and creating a lot of misery besides, for all sides and factions involved.i put my time in the forces, seen some action, and no,i world never go in again, ask a lot of vets, from nam,or korea, there are a few still around that aren’t completely fucked up,from the chemicals they used back then.war is not a nice idea,to either solve problems,or to get what you want.it only fucks up people’s lives, sometimes for years later,if you are lucky enough to survive your first fire fight.
