If you are referring to the pool water that comes out of the tap the answer is chlorine.

Warm fall weather and runoff + tannins from leaves = increased chlorine put into the system and smells, if you mean your tap water.

i was referring to my tap water…i know all about the harbour…i work downtown…i get the harbour…you would have to have your nose cut off not to get the harbour

Halifax city tap water actually is considered one of the best quality municipal water in North America. It is definately safer than bottled water(don’t get me started)!!
I was ‘fortumate’ enough to be in Hellifax on Friday.
When a friend turned their tap on,the water smelled like sewage !

If my well water smelled like this, the first thing i would be doing is dumping javex into it ! Second, I would be having it tested in Truro & getting a hold of the local water treatment people & finding out what the hell I would have to do , to solve this problem. Are you sure they haven’t diverted the sewage treatment water into the ‘fresh’ water supply ?
i emailed the water commission and they said that it is like that sometimes. And that it loses its smell over night…thats not very comforting really.
