What is with food in Halifax? It seems like every time I eat out, a few hours later I’m crouched over a toilet wondering what in the name of God is trying to make its way out of my ass! Don’t you asshats realize that the food you are preparing is for real human consumption!? It was just an innocent avocado turkey burger to go along with my beer, and I could of sworn the fuckin’ bird had come back from the dead at three in the morning, making my poor bowels plead for mercy. Please, Halifax restaurants, COOK YOUR FUCKIN’ FOOD PROPERLY as this paranoia about eating anything other than food of my own kitchen has made me slightly eating disordered… and sad. —No, I Don’t Want the Shits With That, Thanks

  1. If it happens every time you eat out, its you – not the establishments. Welcome to the world of the sensitive belly, the irritable bowel.

  2. Well that doesn’t happen to me or anyone else i know. So that could mean that something else is going on here. I hear two trigger foods in your diet right off the bat. Dairy and wheat.

You could be gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant (I am both and the pain i used to get after eating was astronomical) You also could be intolerant to MSG. Which is in everything.

If you eat a bird with some sort of parasite, your symptoms are going to be MUCH worse than you’ve described (it can be fatal) So seriously dude, get your tolerances checked out. You’re describing pretty much exactly what i lived with for years. I blamed the eateries and friends were like “You’re the only one who got sick” Also.. does it happen at all when you cook at home? Think about what you’re cooking at home too.

You may not like me throwing water on your bitch but for your own good health get it checked out. Trust me it’s worth it.

  3. yes secretagent IBS is another one.

And chrones. My aunt has chrones OP. And Chrones is a killer. If you don’t catch that, it can mean your death.

Seriously stop being angry and start finding out what’s going on with your body.

  4. You could try turning it to your advantage Op. As the old bromide goes “If life deals you explosive diarrhea; apply to the Pollock Studies program at NSCAD.
    In keeping wiv the sit-ee-ation

  5. I second secretagent- it’s not the restaurants, it’s you.

And btw, it’s ‘could HAVE’, not ‘could OF’

  6. i also agree with ivan.

Avocado Turkey Burger = junk food.

    Junk food = digestive issues.

Add that to booze = asses of fire.

  7. I agree with the others above who stated that it’s probably you, OB.

It’s probably an oil they’re using to cook their food. Certain oils can cause what’s called bile dumping which makes you feel like your butthole’s going to fall off.

  8. “And chrones. My aunt has chrones OP. And Chrones is a killer. If you don’t catch that, it can mean your death.” Actually, it’s Crohn’s Disease, not Chrones, and generally, as a result of inflammation on the lining of the small bowel, it results in a scar tissue that creates a stricture that leads to a bowel obstruction. Surgery is then performed to removed the stricture. Even if you fail to receive a diagnoses before it reaches that critical stage, it won’t kill you; you’ll just be a whole hell of a lot of pain.

  9. Like others said if your getting sick after eatting then its you not them. Might want to go see a doctor about your stomach issues.

  10. Yeah, it’s not them it’s you OP. Listen to Ella (who sounds suspiciously like I_K), you could have a food intolerance. Forget could, you DO have a food intolerance.

  11. OB, the problem most likely lies with you. I have been eating at Halifax establishments (and have frequented most, upscale and modest) for 22 years and have never once been subjected to food poisoning.

  12. definitely sounds like your guts need tending to…. just don’t fall for that ‘cleanse’ shit… it’ll make your days even worse.

and it may not be a first world problem, but it’s DEFINITELY not a third world problem.
they’d be HAPPY to have the shits….. Tough to get the shits on 3 bites of food a day
