And now because of this strike he can’t go get his daughter who lives out of town with her mother. He was happy to rent a car for the weekend in the event of a strike but because of current lack of funds he can’t do that anymore.

How to have a little compassion for someone struggling with something that is completely out of their control, PK. If you didn’t have the use of a car, and the help of your family for all kinds of support, you might be inconvenienced and a little pissed off too. This is a bitch site, and it seems to me that if there was a place to post personal grievances, this would be the spot to do it. Believe it or not, not everyone is blessed with a good job and a loving supporting family readily available to them, and throwing it in their faces is a bitch move. Grow the fuck up!!!
Also OB, that sucks. It’s hard enough to be a responsible parent, but when obstacles out of your control prevent you from fulfilling your obligations, I’m sure is a real blow to both parent and child. I hope the strike is short lived, and everything is back to normal soon.

Maybe you could rent the vehicle and get his sad arse out to visit his daughter…….oh yeah, he ain’t working so he could be walking …… and it does not have to be on the weekend now either ……. maybe visit every business along the way and inquire about a JOB.
Some educated working professional don’t earn as much as these drivers. They need top grow up and thank GOD they have a job that requires little to no skill sets that allows them to earn a ridiculous salary!

Obviously that’s too bad OP but it takes two sides to make a strike. So a big fat finger should go out MT management as well. Rather than firing the lot, why not just give them the ability to pick their shifts based on seniority, it’s not going to cost the taxpayer any more.
