I am so sick of living unemployed in this city. It has been two years and I’ve not been able to find a job. I don’t know what it is, but it is ridiculous. April will be my last month living here. I refuse to stay in this city with no job. I’m not wasting any more time. My monthly apartment is close to two grand per month, and I am just wasting all my time here doing nothing. I am so discouraged. I wish I would have known how hard it is to get a job here or I would have never moved out east in the first place. Jokes on me. —East Coast Overdose

Being able to live in this city in a $2000 apartment with no job for two years is a skill that not many have, and I think you should be commended on that! Maybe if you put that on your resume, you could get a job.
Maybe try looking for a more affordable apartment.

What kind of apartment are you living in where the rent is nearly $2000/month?!?
Oh, Zilla. You rule the Fotoshops!
Nice jugs, Titty- I mean Tommy.

Flattered
There are expensive apartments in this city, but when I was on EI for a summer, I could barely afford my $800… what on earth are you thinking?
wheeliep….Is that you in your picture?
Call centres are hiring all the time I think. The OB should try there.

I have a really good paying job, and my apt is only $725/month… how on Earth can you afford a $2000/month apt if you haven’t worked in 2 years?? I’m with Mel… put that on a resume!
That’s me, Zilla. 25 years ago.

You rule pal, $2000 apartment and no job! Wow. You make really good decisions with your parents money. Good luck in the next place you move to. You will fail just as you did here, because you have no ambition.
ZILLA, that is funny as hell. Which program are you using?
You don’t have a job but you’re paying 2000 a month for a flat? It sounds like you’re certainly not unemployed due to any deficit in your common sense or risk analysis capabilities…
What do you do for a living OP? I’ve had no trouble finding a job when i needed one and keeping it once i get it. But we may be in totally different industries and the availability and demand differs from industry to industry.
or.. are you waiting for someone who recognizes your genius to call you? Because that only happens to geniuses. And even then not always.
And OP.. chances are, you’re just one more face in a million in your industry and when that’s the case, no job should be beneath you. You can’t get a job as a software developer/teacher/doctor/artist? Take a job at a call center. Teletech is always hiring and they’re one of the best call centers around.
There is no lack of work OP. There is only lack of work you’re willing to do. I know because you and i live in the same city. I would lower my standards until you DO find your perfect job because chances are there is a lot of competition for that job. And clearly you’re not the best your potential employers have seen and they hired who they figured would be.
Check out careerbeacon website.
Also kijiji.
Also government of canada.
And there is always monster, workopolis and a ton more.
Start with google.
Get’er done.
I have a good job and my $1K a month apartment is tough enough for me to afford… good luck OB, lol
Enjoy Ft. Mac, dipshit. You’ll be paying a fuck-ton more than $2000 a month for an apartment out there, provided you can find one that is.
Oh, and BTW, your proctologist called….He found your head.
What the hell? You mean to tell me that you couldn’t find something, ANYTHING in 2 years of allegedly searching?? I call bullshit. You’re either not really trying all that hard or you’re holding out for that “once-in-a-lifetime dream job. Don’t go blaming the east coast for your apparent lack of ability to adapt and foresight. I think the problem here is pretty obvious…..it’s YOU!
Do you HAVE to live in a $2000 a month apartment? Hell no! I lived in a HUGE 2 bedroom apartment in Clayton Park for $825 a month, heat, hot water and parking included. (And there are better deals out there) That frees up about $1100 of your money that you could be putting into education or training to upgrade/change/adapt your skill sets that will land you a decent job.
Barring that, here’s another option for you: http://www.forces.ca/ (I hear there’s a recent opening in the intelligence field…but what am I thinking, you actually need to possess some intelligence first. Nevermind. It’s not for you.)
I have a high school education and I haven’t been out of work since I was like 19. Not always awesome jobs but I now have a good one because I was willing to work the not so good ones. I’m bilingual but that only came into play on this job, the others I could have gotten without knowing French. I’ll be 25 in June.
It sounds like OP must have had some money saved. I’d like to know why they chose to come to NS, because clearly they are picky about where they want to work and can’t take less than a certain salary/wage, with that expensive apartment. If I was going to move somewhere with hopes of getting work in a specific field, I’d probably do some research before I made the move. At the very least I’d try to live for as little money as possible until I landed at least some kind of employment. Lesson learned, hopefully. I wish I could live in a place like that and not work for two years.
$2000 for rent and not working? Is mommy and daddy paying your bills or is it EI? Better settle for whatever job will take you and move to a cheaper apt. Plenty of cheap apts around the city.
You’re paying $2000/month for an apartment? Are you nuts? And sitting on your ass for 24 months, that’s $48,000 you pissed away down the toilet. I agree, you should move. Go to Newfoundland.
Anybody that’s been job hunting for TWO years needs to do some serious self examination!
I’m sure you can find something your just not willing to, you likely think you are more qualified or important then your are.
I call bullshit on this bitch …… imagine, no job and paying $2000 on rent …….. no mention of the $$$$ for living expenses. Mind boggling indeed – move the hell out of this city for sure as you are bringing our intelligent quotient way the fuck down you dumb-ass.
Koda, agreed. I’d say bs if they were working and making $4,000/month. It is absolutely impossible, unless as somebody said, mommy and daddy are footing the bill.
what? you mean you haven’t tried to get a job as a cleaneer even? now that is ujst fucking lazy, there are tons of places, looking for cleaners, i get offered 2 or 3 a week. and i work for myself now.
Op, sounds like an idiot. at $48k, it/yr rent with no job, would have been better to fly into HRM for interviews.
The only way I can even fathom that OB can pay for a $2k/month apartment is if they suck cocks for coin.
Only way. Because if mommy and daddy were footing the bill for a 2k/month apartment, OB wouldn’t be bitching about finding a job.
You couldn’t waste your time somewhere cheaper? Oh well, look at it as a two-year vacation and now it’s time for reality. Best of luck.
OP you sound like a whiny person that won’t take a job that you believe is beneath you. Did you ever hear of networking, well that is what happens in jobs that might just not be your dream job. Honestly what do you do all day? How about interviews, do you even get that far? Sorry but I don’t feel any sympathy for you.
OB, if you can afford an apartment that costs $2K a month, then I have to question how much you need a job. You obviously have an existing source of funds to support your lifestyle and can’t be too desperate for work if you’ve been looking for 2 years and haven’t taken a job. I also have to question how serious you are in your job search and what kind of expectations you have. In any case, I hope that you do a bit of research before you relocate in April … otherwise you may end up having ill feelings toward your new city as well. And, if that happens … maybe you need to take a closer look at yourself as the common denominator.
This bitch sounds slightly suicidal, East Coast Overdose. Don’t do it! I saw a sign that a certain call-center is hiring for work-from-home positions. All the kids up in Highfield are doin’ it. It’ll give you something to do between bong hits or on commercial breaks while waitin’ for Jerry or Maury to come back on. Sweeeet!
You thought moving to the East Coast was a good career move? Did you have any connections? Do you have a hole in your head where your brain should be?
Sounds to me like you are in greater need of a reality check than a job.
Complaining about a $2 G a month apartment while jobless for 2 years…Yeah, your life must be hard.
