What is it with my being followed/stalked every time I go shopping here? As soon as I enter an establishment security seem to straighten up and become more alert. They follow me everywhere I go (on supposed rounds). It doesn’t matter if I have been to the shop many times before or not, I always have a constant cling-on. (Not to be confused with the noble Klingon.)
I am not sure if it has something to do with my being of obvious African descent or not (Ha ha ha). It does not matter if the cling-on Inspector Clouseau is non-brown or brown, they all seem to have been fed the same line. I was even accused of ‘casing a joint.’ What the hey?! Someone told me it is a global phenomenon called ‘Shopping while Black’ in the United States. —CR

Something happening in the United States cannot be considered a ”global phenomenon”. Only ‘mericans believe their borders constitute the globe.
So stop, face the cling on and ask: “Are you following me? Any particular reason why?” It will either continue or not. If it continues, ask for the store manager and explain the situation.
Is it because you’re black or is it another reason? We don’t know and posting a bitch about it does no good.
Please. Stop posting obviously fake and inflammatory bitches Mod. This practice is in poor taste.
Just start filling your pockets with the things you want to buy, then go straight to the cash and pay for all the items. It’s not stealing until you leave the store so why not fuck with him a bit. If it’s the floppers lug mart on SGR, its not a black/white thing. When I was just in university and i shopped there they used to follow me around back in the early 90’s. Guess I look like a thief too.
Yes, they follow me too; and I’m Jesus!!!
Yes, they follow me too; and I’m Jesus!!!

Man, looks like there are a lot of “inflammatory” liars out there! From the 2013 report on consumer racial profiling by the Nova Scotian government:
“The results from the survey show that race or ethnicity is the determining factor when compared to other demographics such as age, gender, and level of education. Overall, racialized [non-white] respondents reported significantly higher prevalence of both subjective and explicit consumer incidents than did White respondents.”
But don’t worry! There is no racism in Nova Scotia, just whiny entitled minorities. It’s all in their heads.
OB: hit them in the wallet. If they treat you like shit don’t give them your money!
Happens to Tre Styles all the time. Poor guy 🙁
M2A, who said there was no racism in Nova Scotia? No one. Is there question if this is a case of it? Yes. Is there any supporting evidence? No. Understand now?
That’s a very sad statement on some Halifax merchants. How horrible, poster, that you should be treated this way. In the 21st century.
All ages and races are followed, the clerk on the floor wants your business and asks ‘Can I help you ?’ and they want to ring in your purchases to boost their sales record.
Check your paranoia at the door.
