Why haven’t the defunct train tracks crossing Dutch Village Road been paved over? The same tracks, a few meters away at the entry to Ashburn Golf Club, were paved over and now provide a smooth surface for cars. Thousands of drivers use this intersection every day and their cars take a beating from these defunct tracks. It’s a municipal malfunction that should be fixed!

slow down before you hit the tracks. problem solved.
Especially as one end of the ‘level’ part has lifted, making it a traffic hazard (although the traffic cone strategically placed by it helps, provided it’s not dark, raining, busy, some jerk hasn’t moved it, etc).
I agree – get the Municipal Malfunction camera down there pronto.
I wish they’d finish the job already. I HATE stopping at those tracks every.single.time.I.drive.over.it.with.a.bus
CN has been sitting on these tracks, negotiating with the city for sale of the old Chester Spur right-of-way. The city agreed to buy it last month, not sure when the sale will actually go through. But, the city plans to move pretty quickly on it, not sure when these particular tracks will be pulled up…
bitching about it here never seems to help. still nothing has been done about my victoria park bitch from ages ago.
I do agree though that they should be paved over if they have been just a few metres away.
Those tracks are there to remind people “You are now entering Fairview, beware!”
A lot of drivers don’t stop at the train tracks, PDG! Especially ones going over the tracks on Joe Howe just before the superstore…
…although I noticed YOU did yesterday when I was on your route *freaky stalker alert* LOL
I always wonder how many of us bitchers cross paths everyday without even knowing it…
based on an earlier bitch, scotia square is looming with us so I’d guess rather many.
lol we should all wear name tags when we’re in SS 😛
Hey, I have an idea! Let’s describe ourselves after we’ve been out around town for a day and see if anyone saw us. I kind of feel bad for PDG since a few people already know his identity (stalkers!).
I’ll go first: I was all around town today on my big black mountain bike, wearing an older red American Eagle shirt (with a faded American flag on the front of it) and crappy old, tattered Walmart jeans. Yes, I am a style king. I was actually up in the Clayton Park area too and, in what was not one of my smarter moments, decided to try biking along those tracks just to see where they went. Ouch (my SUV bike says owe, too). They go to Armdale, by the way… next time I think I’ll just look at a map.
So did anyone see me?
I often wonder if people I see around the city randomly are regular Bitch posters. It’s kinda sad really.
I didn’t see you but I can relate with the tracks. I tried that once too. I wonder if I know you tho cuz you went to QE in 2000 same year I was in high school so were about the same age. I went to the west tho but know peeps at QE. I’m always walking on bayers rd. 4 or 5 times a day.
Hmm yes I started high school at QE in 2000 and graduated in 2003. Didn’t know anyone at Halifax West who went there in 2000 though. I wasn’t one of the cool QE Lions football jocks, hah.
PK: *stares blankly and blinks a few times* You were on my bus Tuesday? Really? 2 weeks ago, I was 90% sure of who you were. Make that 0% now, lol. Even if you described yourself that day, I would not remember you as that route had a lot of people and headaches in traffic that afternoon. *cue mysterious stalker music*
When I eat in SS, I look around and wonder. I just assume (correctly) that a few people here have been on my bus at one point or another. It’s much easier to spot a driver than it is to spot a passenger.
I wonder every time I get on a bus (which is now admittedly rarer than in the past) if it is indeed you PDG. I think I kinda freak the other drivers out because I do usually take that extra awkward second to stare to try to figure it out.
as for me, I’ve only one very visible trait that would give me away.
otherwise, I blend into a crowd quite easily.
Ohh what is it what is it? Are you a midget? I saw a midget today and wondered if he posted at LTWWB.
I don’t really have any very visible traits to be honest, except maybe my bad sense of style.
you’d like to know. 🙂
Hey I came up with the whole signaling idea but it never took off…
perhaps I’ll try to get a button or something made with the zzz computer.
then it would be a little more obvious. I just won’t tell you WHEN I’m wearing it. 🙂
Well, PDG, I was one of the two who got off an out of service bus at lacewood and saw the 17 (which was late getting to lacewood, which worked out well for me) at….4:30 something and you were about to pull away but stopped and let us on. I was the younger one. If that helps 😀
ANYWAY, maybe we should wear some sort of hat or something when we go to SS…no introductions, just knowledge of who our fellow bitchers are 😛
Press release, today:
Rail track removal planned for Tuesday, October 6
(Friday, October 2, 2009) – Motorists should expect lane reductions in the area of Joseph Howe Drive near the Superstore on Tuesday, October 6 as HRM Operations workers assist CN with the removal of rail tracks that cross the road. The lanes will be reduced to one in each direction during this work which is expected to take much of the day.
Tim, you are indeed the bearer of good news. Now I can race my way towards the traffic nightmare just ahead of it without stopping.
zZz: I could be anywhere so it could be me. Though I only do this with certain buses (for a certain reason involving locker location), if you see a motorcycle helmet on the dash, there’s a much better chance of it being me.
