Ok, seriously, what’s with this city? I’m sorry but I have given it the benefit of the doubt for far too long. One moment you think you can just live here and make a life for yourself and the next you see everything crumbling away from you. There are too many people who are willing to only get close to you for personal gain. What happened to good Nova Scotia values? I have been from one end of this country to the other and used to be proud to brag about how down to earth Nova Scotia people were and how quickly we are willing to aid others. I’m not asking for any handouts, rather I am asking for people to stand up for themselves and their community. Get outside and stop ignoring your neighbours, friends and family when their are times of need. Would it hurt to actually act concerned to at least one other person? When someone gives you their word in this city they should be held to it, and not by some misplaced sense of honour. Rather, they should know how the other person feels and empathize. It is far too easy to criticize, case in point, but that should be all the more reason to do something a bit harder and find out what your made of. —One Big Tims Cup

Duh, I do believe you are referring to the come-from-aways as the REAL Nova Scotians are kind and helpful…..they also stick close together so you haven’t a hope in hell of discovering who they are!
Assholes are everywhere. Not just in Nova Scotia.
OB, screw that. It’s a dog eat dog world. We’re all in it for the money. Enjoy helping your neighbor and try not to get shot and waste our tax dollars at the hospital.
Can you come wash my dishes.
I like Big Tims Cups too!:) ( Double triple!) Shabam!!
Um, the OB states they’re not looking for a handout but signs off with Big Tim’s Cup. We may be down home but we’re not stupid by throwing our money away – we have government to do it for us.
I agree OB. Canadians have a rosy picture of Haligonians that is based on nada. I’ve met generous people all over this country from all levels of the socio-economic scale and all walks of life. Just not here.
What happened to good Nova Scotia values?
Each year, we lose a little to families moving to stronger job markets. It adds up.
Don’t blame nova scotians. Blame the upper canadians who come here in droves, bitch about how much the place sucks, but won’t leave.
They’re turning the place into a shithole.
oh and also OP? No one does that to me.
maybe you’re just a bad judge of character?
IK, there’s “droves” of Ontarians moving here?? Since when?
The population of NS has gone up by about 99,000 in the last 30 yrs, so thats 3,300 per year on average. Keep in mind that includes births, people moving from other provinces (yes, people come here from other provinces, not just Ontario), also people immigrating from other countries. In my experiance I have never had any issue with any Upper Canadians that I have met, but thats probably because I don’t judge them by the province that they call home.
“because I don’t judge them by the province that they call home.”
that would be Nova Scotia 😉
nova scotia is my home, right now. when people ask me where i grew up or where i’m *from* i say canada, it’s much simpler than the long form
That certainly wasn’t vague at all…
PG, thats cool! I grew up in Canada too! Do you know Dave? He also grew up in Canada!
When someone asks you where you grew up I think they are looking for a more specific answer than a smart ass “I grew up in Canada” response.
All that is going to lead to is further questioning about province, city, etc.
i know, i started doing it when we moved here. it was my accent or lack thereof, i just do it for shits and giggles. i was born in ottawa, i have lived in five provinces, i can’t remember how many schools. otay?
