Dear “Organized” Sports League,
I was so excited to start playing intramural sports. I figured it would be a fun way to get some friends together and be active. Instead my team and I have spent the last 2 months dealing with the most unorganized, excuse ridden league I have ever encountered.
We have shown up for scheduled games to gyms that have not been booked, and gyms that do not have the proper equipment so four team are trying to get proper playing time on 1 court. We have had our schedule changed (drastically) with absolutely no warning, making it hard for some of our team members to even be able to play. Just last night they watched us put up the equipment and start warming up, and then gave the court to two other teams! Claiming they didn’t know we were there. I would have been ok with that if we then didn’t have to set up a whole other set of equipment and start our game 15min late.
I know that organizing many people at once is not an easy task, and I have tried to be understanding but I am at the end of my rope. Each of the 10 teams in this non-competitive league pays $900 to be able to play, where does this money go!?!?!?!?!
I am fed up with all of the unnecessary blips and the excuses. My team and I will be playing somewhere else next season. —Recovering From Chaos

Badminton? Volleyball? New league, run by volunteers?
It’ll take a while to get the bugs worked out and things running smoothly.
Sucks that you had to move your game and start late, but hey, you still got to play. You know, you could always help with organizing the league.
C’mon OB…I know there’s no effort to speak of involved….you can play pocket pool at home, why does opening a box of tissues have to be a team effort ?
note* -if you’re not going to bother telling us what sport you happen to be talking about, I’m just going to pick one for you ~;p
The sport was volleyball, run by a for-profit organization with PAID staff
That sucks, ob.
Especially since you paid a fair chunk of change for something you didn’t get in return.
Has a formal complaint been put in?
(and why couldn’t the others use the other court they made you go use once you had been all warmed up and stuff?)
Midget-toss?
that sucks…
I’ll recommend you play dodgeball instead.
It’s fun, REALLY tiring and only requires a floor and two dodge balls.
no setup or breakdown to be seen.
I can understand your frustration…
it annoys me when the earlier games run long and cut into our time to play.
We all pay the same amount and should all get the same play time.
I’m willing to bet they have a complaints division.
Lodge away…
preemptively warding off the impending criticism…
as the great Patches O’Houlihan once said…
“Dodgeball is a sport of violence, exclusion, and degradation. “
right up my alley.
“If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball”
